He took the muffles baffles out or replaced them with straight pipes. He’s not going to put them back or replace them.

I mentioned that my first approach would be to reach out as a friend, but if my sick mother was living with us and the bike would make noise when she was sleeping and this person wouldn’t care - well, bikes are very vulnerable vehicles.

Wow, the amount of hatred and assumptions (not to mention threats) in this thread is astounding...

The OP never mentioned that he ever tried to approach the neighbor to see if they would try to quiet their bike, nor work on it later in the morning.

No, he just automatically labeled him "a turd"...

Just who is the better neighbor?

I understand, but older people become more sensitive to sounds, at least I did. High pitch children’s voices used to give me joy as a kindergarten teacher. Now it goes through my head like a knife and seems to cause migraine like reaction. I still like the children, just the quiet ones more.

And we are at our absolute tolerance level with the constant lawn mowers and other gas equipment on a daily level. Even a small straw will break an overloaded camel’s back.

They can walk the bike to the main corner and start it up there if they were considerate. My hubby does and our rider friends too when visiting especially early or coming in late. We LIKE our neighbors.

Living north of Milwaukee most of my life, I was told by a Harley dealership that 90% of Harley motorcycles that leave the dealerships, replace the stock exhaust for louder pipes.

I had a neighbor that stuck a motorcycle motor in his golf cart. That thing could move. I made the mistake of going with him to see a movie in it and had to hold really tight at the turns. It was The Watchmen in 2009. Watchmen (film - Wikipedia)

It was also rather noisy. Since then he had gone back to a normal golf cart engine and later got rid of the golf cart.

I own and still ride one of those loud Harleys. I modified my baffles with metal punch 30 years ago. I'm aware of loud exhaust and always feather starting and motoring out of neighborhood. Harley's out of showroom are relatively quiet, it costs extra to make them loud.

Loud Bikes save lives! as a rider who just parted with my Softail Deluxe because of a medical issue, remind him that he is messing with a whole new cat in The Villages... deaf, blind & entitled has become his worst enemy.. then offer to buy it off him, its less expensive than moving

I agree Loud bikes save lives…Unless you road one, and had someone almost run you off the road, you wouldn’t understand. We have a bike next door, for us it’s not as annoying as the multitude of Diesel pick ups.

However, If they are deaf, why would they hear the bike? For the blind, it would be an asset, instead of the electric cart that could sneak up on them. As for entitled, one more person on their list is not a big deal. :popcorn:

Then again moving might be a large financial gain, and a very good thing.
