I’m three rows of houses away. Right now, there are pickleball teams playing at Clarendon Rec Center, and as I am sitting in my birdcage, I can not hear them at all. Occasionally, depending on wind, I MAY hear a distant noise, but usually nothing. I have noticed, however, when I walk the street that is right behind the pickleball courts, that the noise is more apparent.

Far,far,far away

Not only are the racket sounds loud. The pickleball players are hooting and hollering and laughing often when a point is played. They start playing early in the morning. I would not want to live this madness. I play tennis and we don't go nuts every time a point has been played.

Not to worry. Pickleball is a fad, like Gangnam dancing, chocolate pudding wrestling or twerking.
Today's pickleball courts are tomorrow's parking lots. |

Even on days when the pickleball courts are full, you can barely hear much if the doors and windows are shut. If they are open or we are on the lanai, we hear people having fun. It's like being on vacation all the time and we feel like we have our own "beach" as we look out and see sand. If you want privacy/quiet, it's probably not for you. If you want to be "where the action is" then it might be. Just depends on what you're up for. |

And I say this as a 25 year former tennis player. |
