Give them a break!!!

The Daily Sun is a lot like my local paper up north. If you were to get in trouble, the best time to do it was in Friday or Saturday night. No reporters worked those days so you would not make the paper.

Seems the same way down here.

I do not think it is a conspiracy or a leaving out the news. It is the timing.

I am not sure why so many of you are against the Daily Sun. They are doing a much better job or reporting local news that a few years ago.

Give them a break!!!

As citizens of any community, we have a social responsibility to care about what goes on around us.

Would you care if it was in your front yard? Would you care if you knew the people? Would you care if there was a crime on your street? Would you care if a sexual predator moved in across the street from you? Would you care if the accident resulted in damage that would increase your taxes?

If not you (us) who's responsibility is it to care what goes on in our community? I think one of the problems we face as a nation is that many or our citizens "don't care." It's your right to care. IF you give up that right, you don't deserve any of your rights.

I'm sorry, your lack of caring about your fellow citizens defies my comprehension.

thank you TH

I agree 100%. I for one want to know, and agree we all need to know.

paulandjean 01-13-2010 01:03 PM

correct

correct yes I would only care if it affected me,or my family, or my home,or my street.

If you don't know what happened how do you know it doesn't affect you?

i think somehow we will all know when it affects us, other than that it's just another statistic....gn

Everything that goes on in our community, our state and our country affects us one way or another. Good stuff and bad.

I can't for one second imagine a person who doesn't care what goes on out side of their personal circle. I'm afraid there are lots of people like that. That's why there are so few people who vote, even when it affects the future of our country and the lives of our military. These are the individuals who walk past people dying on the sidewalk without offering help. "Ain't none of my business."

If this specific individual didn't know anybody who was killed in the 9/11 attacks and none of the planes hit her/his neighborhood, then, they don't care about it, according to them. Or am I wrong, maybe, there are just "some" things they care about?

I have zero respect for a person who claims to not care what happens to others. I'll bet they occupy a pew in church on Sunday praying that good things rain down on them only and to hell with everybody else. I sure hope their children and grandchildren didn't inherit this unspeakable behavior from them.

its pretty simple. its none of my business.9/11 come on.praying in church, grandchildren. come on, someone has to much time on their hands. Father.why is it that we must know every fact about something that happens. remind me of someone who rubbernecks at a car wreck.I know its the morse family thing. good luck father

golfnut 01-13-2010 05:09 PM

i am probably missing something here so let's start by keeping it simple, TH, how does someone (not known to me or anyone i know) plowing through a pump house in the middle of a roundabout affect me....gn

It affects you because it is your community, your pump house, built with your tax dollars that pumps your sewage. It's your police department paid for by your tax dollars that investigates the accident. It's your fire department and ambulance squad that responds to the event. It's your tax dollars that makes the repairs. Accidents like this are troubling trends. If you don't want to be informed about this and other similar trends, then you have no right to complain when it ultimately affects you.

If we, as citizens, don't keep track and care about what is going on around us, all the time, every time, every day, then we are are signaling that we are willing to accept anything that is handed to us. Apathy amounts to greed. "I want to enjoy my little piece of the world, but I refuse to be bothered with anything outside of my personal sphere."

I don't know one person in Haiti, but I am affected deeply by the events there. My Marines, my President, my tax dollars and my emotions are all intimately connected to this event.

When one of my community neighbors smashes through a pump house, I care about it.

I always have and will continue to care about what goes on in my community, you may do as you please.

BTW I didn't answer your question because you demanded it, I answered it because I wanted to. This is my last post in this thread.
