i understand the concept of municipal services, as far as fixing the damage there is a whole industry out there it's called insurance whether it's municipal or private that cleans up afterwards, but thank you for pointing it out for those who may not, i'm still not sure how understanding this incident to the nth detail will keep it from affecting me in the future, i could know everything that happened and attend town meetings to express my outrage (and believe me i am not happy about this type of event and do have feelings for those involved) and offer solutions to mitigate an instance like this happening again, but you know what, it will happen again, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time....well, you know what happens or maybe you don't, btw i said i was waiting for an answer, not sure where you interpreted this to be a demand...gn

It's your tax dollars that makes the repairs. Accidents like this are troubling trends. If you don't want to be informed about this and other similar trends, then you have no right to complain when it ultimately affects you.

If we, as citizens, don't keep track and care about what is going on around us, all the time, every time, every day, then we are are signaling that we are willing to accept anything that is handed to us. Apathy amounts to greed. "I want to enjoy my little piece of the world, but I refuse to be bothered with anything outside of my personal sphere."

I don't know one person in Haiti, but I am affected deeply by the events there. My Marines, my President, my tax dollars and my emotions are all intimately connected to this event.

When one of my community neighbors smashes through a pump house, I care about it.

I always have and will continue to care about what goes on in my community, you may do as you please.

BTW I didn't answer your question because you demanded it, I answered it because I wanted to. This is my last post in this thread.

:clap2::clap2::clap2: TH ..There are just some people that figure if they don't know then it won't affect them.Sad!!

Why I care...

I'll tell you why I care about this particular story and why I am glad I heard about it, on T.O.T.V and the Daily Sun....

I often find myself getting complacent while tooling about T.V. in my car, in my cart, on my bike and walking. At least for a short time this story has cured me of the idea that when I am "in the circle", I have the right of way. It was a wake up.

I like to think I learn from all inputs I receive.
  • Due to stories on the cold, that essentially did not impact me, I now know what landscaping I want to install.
  • Due to stories on the fires, that essentially did not impact me, I have made some changes around the house. (Use the correct plug for my golf cart)!
  • Due to the stories on the tornado, that essentially did not impact, I bought a weather radio.

I'd like to think that I am smart enough to determine what news is important to me.

Anything else is a form of censorship.

tpop, what does "the correct plug" for your golf cart mean....gn

Golf-Tinker 01-14-2010 07:14 PM

Right Plug

Unless your respond was TIC, I believe TPOP meant the dedicated charging outlet in the garage.

golfnut 01-14-2010 07:25 PM

no it was not tic, i am trying to find out what this special outlet does different from other outlets...gn

TomW 01-14-2010 08:44 PM

Come on people!! This event took place within a pitching wedge shot of my house and I can't be there right now. Please post all details, who did what, and a complete analysis by Villages07 !!! If you live a few blocks away and don't care, I'll see you on the landscape forum later.

golfnut 01-14-2010 08:50 PM

you're kidding right?....gn

TomW 01-14-2010 09:13 PM

Well I was overstating for dramatic effect but would still appreciate knowing if this is some isolated event, unlikely to happen again, or if I purchased a home on a high speed approach to some destination for drunks or nut jobs.

golfnut 01-14-2010 09:21 PM

to answer your questions, yes, no, maybe, but unless you live in the other building in the middle of that particular roundabout and as long as you pay attention and are aware of your surroundings whenever you venture out you should be OK....gn

The Sentinel did not cover it...they do cover Lake County, but not Sumter or Marion. Subscribe, encourage them to broaden coverage. For news outside The Villages -- like the rest of Florida, plus the nation and the world -- it far exceeds the local "Happy News" house organ.
As for the person who said "recognized by whom," If you don't know about the Tribune newspaper group, there is no point in engaging with you.

tony 01-14-2010 09:34 PM

I have no idea what TIC means.

Please do not use acronyms that are complete nonsense to many people who read these forums.

Now if somebody will tell then we will all know. If not, then the posts with TIC will be removed.

villages07 01-14-2010 09:39 PM

Tony, Tony.... you must never have worked for the government or the military. We know our acronyms or can certainly figure them out in 10 seconds or less.

TIC - tongue in cheek.

BTW (by the way), I drove past the roundabout in question.... yikes, that's some major damage.

TomW 01-14-2010 09:41 PM

GN: Perhaps I misread your post, If you are calling me out on my abilty to hit a PW from by back yard to the accident site, I will try to demonstrate but I'm getting along in years and my distance is diminishing so maybe I should have said I could reach the accident site with a 9 iron.

KathieI 01-14-2010 09:43 PM

Tongue in cheek????
Your right, Tony, I had to look it up
and am not sure I'm correct.

BTW, Kathie Hates Acronyms!!!!!
