You didn't finish the sentence. The OP said "more Liberal views on our established rules".
A liberal view of rules means they aren't taken seriously or obeyed. It has nothing to do with politics.

Maybe you are right. I don't know but we will see what the OP says if he chooses to respond. He did capitalize the L in liberal....the context was going "soft" and also alluded to the age of the newcomers....but I have been wrong many times before and will continue to be, I'm sure.

I guess being "soft" is going to be make The Villages just another " all about me" neighborhood.. It's getting old fast.

They do not understand the danger of driving carts at higher speeds. Could care less what renters are doing in their home. And, many see flipping their homes after one year is a sure fire way to make money. In the end, it will probably crash and burn. The real estate market is full of pitfalls. Will they care if it crashes? Probably not. Most live out of state.

I do not understand who is buying these over-priced one and two year old homes. A buyer can purchase a new home for 50 - 100 thousand less and gain equity instead of throwing that money away. To me, it doesn't make sense.

I think homes being built in the Eastport area will slow resales. A smart buyer will see purchasing a home in that area is a better investment. The new square is going to outdo Brownwood in so many ways- 3 Championship golf courses, an expansive lake, and indoor pickleball to name a few.

How is the elevation in Eastport for flooding? And sinkholes? (Studies indicate somewhat of a correlation between elevation and sinkholes.) My number one concern was with these two things before I bought my home. I wanted my kitchen to be in the same place when I woke up as the night before.

Lightening strikes and sink holes happen FREQUENTLY THROUGHOUT the Villages. You would need a crystal ball to determine what area is going to remain safe. I was living here when the early morning tornado destroyed 1300 homes. No one saw that coming! The Villages IS NOT the safe haven that some people believe. 18 yrs living here, I have learned to expect disasters.

Where are these "indoor pickleball courts" you speak of going to be built in Eastport?

I've seen absolutely nothing about them...

The only thing I can find is some being built up off of 466 (which is nowhere near Eastport)

It was mentioned in a Continuing the Dream video. A rock climbing wall and indoor basketball will also be in the gym.

Everything gets more relaxed over time. Look how people dressed when going to a nice restaurant in the 80's compared to now. Look at what people that work in offices wear to work now. Not a suit/tie to be seen in most offices now. Companies used to mainly interact with customers by having a secretary type a formal letter on a letterhead, now it's usually an email or a text message. The end of formality is here.

Doc
The Villages - Florida's Friendliest Active Adult 55+ Retirement Community

Go to about minute 1:58 of the video. Not dedicated indoor pickle, but an indoor gymnasium, that can have basketball, volleyball or indoor pickleball

That "expansive Lake" is more like a skinny canal for dragon boats to race in. The indoor pickleball courts will cost a good buck to use to keep them from being overwhelmed by the demand.

Its always the "other guys" isn't it. Those darn snowbirds, or the new people, or the visitors, or the outsiders, or the renters but its never, ever, the long-time year-round residents. They never speed, never drive drunk, never have loud parties, never violate deed restrictions, always carry their ID proudly displayed on a lanyard, obey all traffic laws, love their neighbor, and go through every day with a song in their heart and a dance in their steps. Bless their hearts!

One person's treasure is another person's junk. You see this as a positive thing?

I was comparing the new square to Brownwood. Brownwoood does not have a lake, an island to enjoy the sunsets, scenic walking trails, a golf course, wellness center, driving range, and so much more. The indoor gym is part of the new recreation center. Perhaps, it will be like the fitness centers in which you have to pay to use. So far, no fees have been mentioned.

My discussion was based on the OP. There are many younger residents with AirBnbs and investment properties. My point is..things change frequently in the Villages. Today's "best homes" become yesterday's news. The area with the new town square along with the 3 championship golf courses will be the next "best homes." Until something else comes along. It has been this way since Spanish Springs was built. There will always be something new and improved. You have to be on your toes if you have investment properties. You can lose as easily as gaining. When LSL was built, there was a HUGE DEMAND. The largest demand I have witnessed since living in the Villages. After a few years, it crashed. Ups and downs happen in real estate.

I've been here for 13 years and what I've notice is some of the nicest people living here are some of the old established residences and they are also some of the worst offenders. Most people living here have made this their last move before taking the big exit. I just enjoy my surrounding. Life is too short, live and let live.

Thank you , that's correct
