Maybe you are right. I don't know but we will see what the OP says if he chooses to respond. He did capitalize the L in liberal....the context was going "soft" and also alluded to the age of the newcomers....but I have been wrong many times before and will continue to be, I'm sure.

This next wave of retirees into the Villages seem to bend the rules, obviously going to test enforcement or the lack of enforcement... and not reporting the known violations, is going " soft". Trying to make it easier to understand for some

And it has been that way since we got that golf cart. This was probably around 2015.

We end up passing 2 or 3 in a 45 minute run and our cart only does 20. Maybe 20.5 going downhill with a tailwind. There are plenty of drivers doing 15 or less. Maybe age doesnt easily let them press the pedal to the floor.

Even traveling at wee hours, you will see a cruiser out and about. Great site to see police presence, @ BV crossing 44m at 3am. I wave every time.

Is there anyone in the cruiser?

Braking the rules

Instead of posting on this talk show do something about then!
Maybe you can be the spokesmen for the ARC committee…

Always, manned, not a useless empty cruiser like sheriffs dept leaves. I agree Wildwood PD definitely has a comforting presence. I am sure the speedy cars aren’t happy on Meggison, but we are.

The Villages Golf Cart set battery powered carts at 24mph right out of the box. Gas powered are still set at 19mph. I see a lot of gas powered carts now operating at speeds way over 25mph. It's easy to do at home. I guess time will tell what operating at 20-25% over designed speeds does to them.

The 2015 Yamaha electric I bought from them does 19.5 mph. It cannot be adjusted. Electrics do not have governors like gas carts. You need to replace the controller to change max speed and that costs hundreds of dollars.

They never speed, never drive drunk, never have loud parties, never violate deed restrictions, always carry their ID proudly displayed on a lanyard, obey all traffic laws, love their neighbor, and go through every day with a song in their heart and a dance in their steps. Bless their hearts!

A liberal view of rules means they aren't taken seriously or obeyed. It has nothing to do with politics.

Except it was capitalized...... "Liberal"

I don't know about 2015 models but with newer electric carts the speed can be reprogrammed. The programming device I found was prohibitively expensive but it exists.

I am glad that someone mentioned the golf cart governor overrides (need for speed). Having golf carts driving around with DIFFERENT top speeds just asks for problems such as unnecessary passing. Why are retired people in such a hurry - you would think that they would have learned "impulse control" by now. Another problem is golf carts making high speed turns - they have a high center of gravity and can go out of control very easily - plus after happy hour the drivers get extra aggressive. Also, golf carts with altered governors are extra LOUD.

I have been here since 2005. Everything you mentioned - have concerns about, has existed since 2005. What's liberal? Anything that is different than you or your thinking!

Rich1, the items that you are making reference to have been blown completely out of proportion, and in actuality the issues are not of any importance.

I have yet to see a car up on blocks in someone’s driveway. I have yet to see little ants and pink flamingos reducing the property value of our homes.

What I have seen is a reduction in the friendliness of some of the residence caused by the current political divide of the entire country.

It will get worse before it gets better.

Is it NOT the JOB of NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH to report such problems? Maybe we need more of them or THEY need more TRAINING.
