There have been several of those, and always lively (and sometimes crazy) comments. Like the dog poop threads.

It is what it is. The set the rules so anyone wishing to participate have to conduct themselves by those set rules. I have been put in the penalty box before, but I don't cry about it. It would be nice if they would explain what was said that caused the punishment, but it IS their business. Like I said, it is what it is and we should just be grateful for the communication tool.

I posted something to political in the past, and the monitors were nice enough to send me a private message

Maybe it might have contributed to Village rioting upon said verdict....is the NSA there? If theres even an NSA anymore? I can't keep up. The NSA was in my old neighborhood and they squelched a bunch...

I find things are a lot better here than in the very corrupt state of illinois and city of chicago.

Hmm, not sure where you get that the Rittenhouse trial is political, but I do believe that they felt that the subject had run it's course so they closed it down. You do know that there is a section dedicated to General Discussions, where many start threads related to current events, right?



For those that do not like certain forums, there is no requirement that you enter and read all posts in all forums. Those that are distasteful to you can be avoided.

The way it goes around here — and goes and goes and goes…..


It seems like it can get worse on weekends when a pattern sometimes emerges as threads get longer and longer and more and more rude.

There are those who have no room in their heads for anything that even remotely resembles an opinion that differs. The tribal behavior that is taking down our country plays out right here on TOTV on a regular basis.

There are posters who are hellbent on controlling the narrative and respond immediately, and often hatefully, to any opinion that does not fit the overall agenda they must cling to — without question.

Then the thread starts to look like a leaflet drop — with post after post after post with the sole goal of shutting up any opinion that might vary.

Sometimes I wonder if human spontaneous combustion could be a real thing because the rabid rage that shows through the words, in post, after post, after predictable post, seems to increase as such a thread goes on.

One side always takes over because of a dedication to sheer momentum — until nobody else even bothers anymore — and the mutual admiration circle gets another step closer to turning TOTV into just another internet political echo chamber.

Finally, a moderator says, “Enough!” and shuts it all down.

Then comes the self-righteous indignation, with the cries of “Foul!” and the buzzwords and co-opted phrases like “Freedom of Speech.” It’s always the same victim-playing routine.

I wish everybody would watch the middle segment of last Sunday’s 60 Minutes. It was about how our tribalism will be our complete downfall as a nation if we don’t come to our senses soon.

And about the moderators — I don’t know how they stand to do it. I appreciate it though. And I do not think they owe anybody an explanation because most of those who complain know exactly what happened.

I agree with all the reasons that were posted for a thread to be closed.
If it was for a political issue maybe a suggestion can be given to the poster a site where they can post that type of topic.

If they are smart enough to post veiled political posts on TOTV, they are smart enough to find a political site.

Closed and moved are two different things

Closed is different from “wrong topic for the forum “. That would just be moved to the correct forum
