Well, I am done with Comcast! What is more important? Their worker's safety or me being able to watch a re-run of "Modern Family"?

Makes as much sense as any of the other reasons I've read here in the past! :)

My TV came to life at about 9:30pm (pls note that is a time not a date ;-) ) .... now I will monitor my bill to see if I receive a credit for apox 5 hours of not being able to use a service I have paid for in advance.

Perhaps, a lawyer who knows his business should start a class action lawsuit, of which I will be willing to be a plaintiff. In addition, why do we have to call them for credit when they know full well who their customers are and had not received the services paid for. It should be an automatic credit.

How many of the subscribers actually call to get the credit they deserve and are entitled? This lack of service is a windfall for the cable company to the detriment of the user.

As noted above, I believe that a class action suit may in fact be worth millions and even put a stop to this nonsense. Remeber how Comcast charges us for every little incident such as having to send a repairman to fix their equipment.

A class action lawsuit worth millions for a few hours of no cable ? Really ??

Credit - COMCAST Outage Friday

We should all call to get credit. Mine was only $1.83 but at least we go on record as not being pleased with the extended outage Friday. The number to call is 800-266-2278

Mikeod 07-13-2014 01:35 PM

OK. Let's say the outage was 6 hours long. That amounts to less than 1% of the hours in the month (30 days at 24 hours = 720 hours). Even if your monthly bill is $200, your credit will be less than $2. When I consider how much time it takes to navigate the phone tree, my time is worth more than that. I also don't think Comcast would even notice if 10,000 customers asked for a credit due to an outage. And all this supposes the outage was their fault. Perhaps a failure due to the electrical activity we've had recently?

We have really gotten spoiled to technology. 6 hours with no TV during an intense electrical storm and the sky is falling? What did people do back in the dark ages 50 years ago?

it is not 50 years ago, in this day an age there are some of us that make our living via the internet, and using information via our cable connection! one mans toy an uneeded luxury is the other mans able to survive!
the world will go all to hell without buggy whip makers!

Comcast Internet wasn't down at my home yesterday and if being connected was a requirement for survival, I'd have redundancy.

My Verizon smartphone allows me to use the device Asa 4G LTE hotspot (30+mb down/10 up. Maybe you should look into that....

Yup! My thoughts exactly. That's why we also have life jackets in boats and parachutes in airplanes. Lol. Outage Friday evening for 6 hours should not a crisis make.

BeetleBailey 07-13-2014 08:05 PM

Called Comcast and was connected to the billing department. Thay are going to give me a one day credit on the TV service for $2.12. Comcast is a joke!

It is a crisis if your phone is part of the internet service and they tell you your service appointment will be in 4 days. I fired Comcast and got BrightHouse installed the next morning.

By the way, Comcast knew my wife has a chronic health condition that might require assistance anytime.

If you are not a Comcast fan, remember that they are involved in a merger that could result in them having more than 50% of the US market.

Consumer Reports is even against the merger.

Here is the Consumer Report comment:

Enough is Enough: No Comcast merger!
We have real momentum in our fight against Comcast's plan to dominate our cable TV and Internet. And you can be a part of it!
Take a minute to watch how consumers crashed Comcast's annual shareholder meeting to oppose it's takeover of Time Warner Cable.
Then add your name to our petition against the merger. More than 400,000 Americans have already signed on -- saying NO WAY to letting one company dominate what we see, how fast we see it, and what we pay!
