They know exactly what they are doing. A few weeks ago I was on a business trip in Salt Lake City. I went into the Costco and could not believe the size. Easily four times bigger then anyone I’ve been in. I asked on of the employees about the size of the store and he proudly told me it’s the largest one in the world. Guess what folks in Utah have big families.

And as far as I know liquor can only be sold in state run DABC stores in Utah so the Costcos there have to get by without liquor departments.

They probably make it up on toilet paper sales there as LDS families may have 7 - 14 children.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger! We were at Costco this morning and had to talk to the manager about a return (2 bottles of single malt scotch blew their corks and emptied in our car). We told him we were from The Villages, and, we, along with a bunch of other people, wanted a Costco here. He said that they had looked at land here, and it's in the plans. He can't say when, but it's coming. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've also read on Facebook that someone else had heard the same thing. By the way, he replaced the 2 bottles for free. That's customer service!

Where did you hear they were dumping them? Well, even if they are, they're still supposed to be great balls. I just ordered 2 boxes (the maximum I'm allowed) as I've looked for them many times and they're always out of stock when I do. Thanks for the heads-up!

Your welcome. There is a possibility of a patient infringement. While it’s being worked out, thinking what stock they have left will be long gone before legal figures it out.
Sad to see could only order 2 boxes of 2 dozen. I keep them for when our boys come in. They love them. Glad they had some for you

We belonged to Costco in Ohio, they had drive in tables set up selling discount memberships while they were building the store. I went there once and didn't buy anything, never went back. Joined Sam's Club down here a little over a year ago, went there twice didn't buy anything, I see no reason to go back. I did hear from a gas station attendant that there are plans to build a Costco and Super Walmart in Coleman not far from the TV industrial park as there will be a new I-75 exit there, make sense to me. These local gas station attendants usually know their stuff.

Other than large (and normal size) quantities of everyday products, think of it as... a 'treasure hunt.'

They are experts at showcasing high-brand items that you weren't looking for, or thought you needed, but are so cool and priced so low...you just have to buy one (or two..or three).

The key is that those type of products are often limited and you can't be guaranteed...that they will be there the next time.

I'm lucky to get out of any Costco with spending only $100-$150...on a good day.

Treasure Hunt

Quote:

As of 2015, Costco was the second largest retailer in the world after Walmart and its stock had soared more than 5,000 percent since going public in the mid-1980s.

However, this store doesn't install signs in its aisles. It rather lets it's customers wander in the store, looking for the things they intend to buy while browsing through stuff that they "notice" on the way.

Poor customer experience, right?

Wrong! Costco, in fact, has mastered the psychology behind shopping.

Costco constantly changes the location of its top-selling products - such as light bulbs, detergent, and paper towels - forcing the customers to search storewide. And as logic dictates, the more time consumers spend ambling around the store, the more likely they are to spend.

Costco rotates upward of 25% of its hard-goods and its products. The result is that, of the 3,600 items for sale, a full 1,000 may be offered only for that particular moment and may not be available for a future shopping visit.

These non-repeated, limited period offers are hidden among its standard inventory.

Thus, shoppers are treated to a "treasure hunt" every time they visit Costco.

ANNND...their customer service is legendary.

Cosco

According to my twice removed cousins mother-in-laws nephew That cosco was coming as soon as the Morse’s give up all rights to the villages.

Last weekend I talked to a friend who lives in Orlando. He gets his dog groomed where a lady he talks to also gets her dog groomed. This lady knows someone who has a cousin that has a neighbor who works for Costco. These two neighbors were in a city park one day when the lady with the dog found a wadded up piece of blank paper that was on Costco letterhead. To make a long story short, the dog groomer noticed the cut dog hair in a strange pattern one day. Turns out this groomer thought the hair pile was spelling “CTV”. In my opinion, this can only mean there is a Costco coming to The Villages very soon.

Shop Costco, Sams, and TJ at least once a month. All carry something different. I have never had to buy my Dukes in a 10 gallon jar. It comes in a regular size 2 pack. There optical dept is ranked in the top 5

Charmin makes a 4 1/2" wide toilet paper JUST FOR COSTCO!!! I will never use the smaller width again. That extra 1/2" makes all the difference in the world the way it fits on the toilet paper holder. I have not seen this size toilet paper in any other store, including Sam's.
