I question those claims too. Seems many more people would be infected if it was as contagious as some claim.

Thank You! So many people think The Villages makes up all of Sumter county so when they see numbers it’s the villages. They don’t pay attention and we have a prison here and about 300 I think tested positive there inmates and employees! Sumter county has other people living here besides us Villagers!

Approx. 52,000 Villager residents in Sumter Co. There have been 8 or 9 reported deaths attributed to the virus. The death to positive tests is low. There is all kinds of testing areas in and around the Villages. The tests performed have been ramped up and hundreds or even thousands have been tested, just in the Villages area. So, considering the amount of tests and that only positives have been reported, the death ratio is very low.
It is hard to find data on just the Villages area when it comes to deaths, but the media sure enjoys putting out sensational headlines about how COVID 19 is "exploding, surging, overwhelming, etc." the Villages. I would like to see stats on the ratio of positive tests to negative tests. I would also like to see the stats on how many are hospitalized due solely to the virus. I bet there will be someone on here that will produce that information.
If you figure just the percentage of deaths to population of just the Sumter co. portion of the Villages it would be something like 8 or 9 divided by Approx. 52,000 residents (give or take a hundred or so). I believe that comes out to less than 2 one hundredths of a percent, if I am not wrong.

I think it is impossible to tell with the information available to us. Many have died, but did they die from Covid-19 or did they die from something else but had the virus? Neither side trusts the government's numbers.

It is similar to the official one but contains as much of the data as she is able to gather from the hospitals AND the CDC AND individual city sources, and not just selected snippets culled and tossed out of context on the page like the "official" one does.

That's why I linked this one. It's more complete, more detailed, more accurate, contains context which makes it easier to understand.

The virus has only existed since March. So that's 4 months. During half of it, there were snowbirders here. The snowbirders have since returned to their winter homes.

That "combined population" - does it include snowbirders who aren't even in the state anymore?

LOL The CDC is a federal agency. The numbers now go direct to HHS also a federal agency, which oversees the CDC. This was done to streamline data collection. The CDC is just an aggregator of State data. All states have their own websites where the data can be accessed by the public.

Fake news. The lady who was fired is not a scientist. She was fired for not following directions of the actual scientists. She also recanted her data manipulation story in an email.

Ferré's email included the email that DeSantis referenced. Sent Saturday, Jones told her supervisor that her comments about the employees replacing her had been misconstrued.

“What I meant when I said I don’t expect the same level of accessibility is that they are busy and can’t answer every single email they get right away,” Jones wrote to her supervisor. “Is this one of those stupid things I shouldn't have said?”

This lady has a criminal record and is under active investigation for cyber stalking.

So, basically no one knows how many deaths have occurred within the Villages borders. All kinds of stats published by all kinds of sources, but nothing clear.

Over 3.000.000 cases is too many. Hopefully the vaccine will be available soon.
