I was in Publix a few months ago picking up my online Deli order and commented on the convenience of it. Just order, pick up and no waiting in those horrendous lines. Another customer responded that they did not like it because they did not get the free samples. Oh, my...

My friend ordered Eggs Benedict for breakfast at Athens. She asked for one extra spoonful of sauce. When the bill came, they had charged her 50 cents for the extra sauce. She said she wouldn't have minded so much if they had told her ahead of time.

A few years back we had a group of 8 of us, all friends, that golfed once a month. After, we would all go out for lunch at Codys, Fridays or one of the country clubs, what ever we were golfing near.
They were just opening one of our banks or assisted living places and they were giving out free hot dogs with a can of pop and a bag of chips to come and see it. One of the couples suggested we go there to eat free after golf. The rest of us said no thanks, we're going for lunch. They said they were going for the free hot dogs. They said why pay if they don't have to. :ohdear: |
Sad, just sad. Mind your own business and we would all be better off.

My husband and I stopped in the Olive Garden for their soup and salad combo a few days ago. We were talking to our server about the incident and she asked if we minded if she sent the manager to speak with us.
The manager who came to our table was not the manager who "handled" that situation regarding the extra bit of wine. She was not happy with the incident. All I can tell everyone is that she said she would handle the situation. She was not happy that whomever that other manager was, chastised the server in question over the little bit of wine in the bottle that was added to the customer glass. |
The waitress should not have donated company property (the extra wine) to the customer.
The patrons near bye should not have gotten involved in such a small infraction. The manager should not have taken action during the shift in which it happened. The waitress should not have told the customer about a conversation with her boss. A little understanding and professionalism in missing from all of the above situations. |

About a month ago, I was at City Fire with a friend of mine for dinner. He went in and asked for a table outside, and was told it was a 20 minute wait. This confused us as they were five tables empty. He went back in an inquired again about table availability, and was told "to go have a drink at the bar and wait". How rude!!!!
He was livid. Finally we got a table at the same empty table, forty minutes later. I was very unhappy, by then. Was at City Fire two weeks ago, and we got a table outside right away. I ordered the "flatbread meat lovers pizza" with pepperoni. Guess what, it came out with pepperoni, and was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I have never sent back a dish in my life, but more important, my system doesn't tolerate spice at all. Catherine, the waitress, apologized for the error, and let me order something else. She then offered a glass of milk to take away the burning in my mouth. The manager came over to apologize, and she offered some bread as to relieve my discomfort. Since these two individuals understand customer service at it's finest, I took this opportunity, to explain my displeasure as our treatment a week earlier. The manager said there is only a hold of twenty minutes for a reservation to release a table if people does show at the appointed time, and we were treated rudely by the seating personnel. She then thanked me for bringing it to her attention, and said she would remedy the problem so it wouldn't happen again. My son has always worked in 4 to 5 star hotels, where the service treats it's customers right, even when they act like horses petudes. Catherine and her manager should be commended highly, as they know how to treat a customer right. The first manager at OG shouldn't be a manager if they don't know how to handle their staff properly, and it's treatment of customers. OG seems to not be doing well financially, and maybe this is a small part of the problem. |

I drink a lot of wine and love it when it gets to the end of the bottle where I get a little extra because there is only a little bit left. I also see that happening to other people when they order wine. It's always less that an inch. Certainly nothing to get that upset about.

I guess if nothing else this thread shows how people handle things in life. I personally prefer to not sweat the little things and someone else getting a dribble more wine is definitely a little thing. I never even ate out at a restaurant until I was in college--it was a luxury a family of 7 didn't get to indulge in. So when I eat out, I enjoy the fact that I'm not cooking and someone is bringing me food. I don't notice those in tables around me because I'm hopefully enjoying the company of those dining with me.

I am the original poster of this thread. I must say I have learned a little about human nature. The waitress was a really friendly person who actually did a Dean Martin impression for us as she poured our wine. It was very easy for the next table to over hear the conversation about the extra wine so I think that is how they knew about it. In any event I appreciate all the responses and hope those who read these comments learn a little also.

Life is too short, to be too little! How about the compainer being happy, someone was treated well!!!! nuff said......... |
Some folks just have too much time on their hands. We live in a wonderful community! Stop finding things to b--ch about!

Too many people like to find something to complain about, and they seem to be attracted here. Maybe his glass was not as full as the others before so some leftover. I hope they left the server an extra tip for their kindness.
Maybe this country needs glasses like in Europe with a fill line marked on them. |

Cody's is better food than Olive Garden, I think, but easier to spend too much money at Cody's. |

You know, asianthree has a point. By complaining to the manager, maybe the people at the next table were trying to get a free glass of wine as an appeasement. Clever little cheapskates! I bet they're proud of themselves.

I only got two pickles on my cheeseburger.

Let me try to make it clearer for you...I would not feel ONE, SiNGLE, IOTA of concern over what someone at the next table was getting. More wine...more steak...more fries...more salad. So what? I don't care! I wouldn't even know what they were getting, because WHERE I COME FROM it is considered beyond rude to stare at someone else's food, much less measure the amounts! If you have a problem with your portions, then take care of it. Seriously, man up and tell the waitress what you want, but don't worry about what is going on at the table next to you. |
