Look at Spruce Creek and some of the other communities around the edges.

I'm happy there are unimpressed people, the grumpy old negative nellies will go someplace else to live and stop trying to rain on everybody else's lives. Wouldn't want them for a neighbor because they have such bad outlook on live. These people are NEVER happy. They usual don't live very long lives, and want to drag everyone down to their depressing level.

Obviously, the author of this article is not informed that TV is buying up land and will soon be developing again at 2015 levels. There was a slowdown when TV thought they couldn't build anymore due to an agreement with Sumter County years ago. That agreement has been torn up and they can now build all they want.

You have piqued my interest. What agreement are you referencing?

How many years will it take to sell all of the projected new homes on the newly purchased land at a sales rate of 2,200 new homes per year? The Villages is at the mature stage of its life? From the Orlando paper in 2016 -> Sales drop in The Villages while Lake Nona sales grow - Orlando Sentinel

Note: sales in 2016 were a little less than 2015 sales reported in the Orlando article.

However, maybe sales will increase with these land acquisitions?

I do not think the Orlando Sentinel is a fan of The Villages or the Morse family. I would take anything written in this paper about The Villages with a healthy dose of skepticism.

The real profit has already gone to the developer - which is just fine.

The announcement of the purchase was made Saturday night at a meeting for Villages sales associates.

The land is located near the Rohan Recreation Center south of County Road 44 and along County Road 468.

The area between 466 and 466A has 16 executive and 4 championship courses. The area south of 44 will have about the same number of homes.I hope they are planning more golf courses.

There was a mutual agreement a few years back between the Villages & Sumter County that the Villages wouldn't build anymore in Sumter.
Most knew that wouldn't last long.

Lots on a golf course command upwards of $100,000. Of course there will be more courses.

Right, it is my understanding that when the Morse's wanted permission to build south of 466 they had to sign an agreement with Sumter County that they would never build south of 44. That was torn up a few years ago, probably because of the economic impact. Sumter County was, at one time, one of the poorest counties in all of Florida.
