Stay away from DISH....bad news

Federal law overrides any local government or deed restrictions on TV antenna placement. For satellite you need a clear line of sight south by southeast. TV antenna needs to be about 25 feet above ground level, pointing toward Bithlo Fl, where the Orlando / Daytona broadcast antennas are located. Be a good neighbor and keep the antenna on the side, or back yard or that part of your roof.

Stay away from all of them. The monthly charges were inconsistent and spending time correcting them is not fun. Compare your bills from month to month and you'll see.

We had direct tv. Installed the dish in the yard. We thought rooftop was not allowed but we have seen many installed on the roof.
We cut the cord somewhat after a year. The VHA here has a nice video about cord cutting. Currently we have internet via infinity with basic cable to get local channels. $70-80/ month.

You don’t need ARC approval and you can direct that your installation of the dish can pretty much be placed wherever you like. I had my DirecTV dish mounted on the side of the house out of sight from the street, with a new metal electrical box and no exposed wiring. I purchased the electrical box, PVC plumbing pipe and copper hold-down clamps. The DirecTV technician was happy to install the dish where I specified.

If you say nothing, the technicians will put the dish where it’s more convenient and faster for them. They pay no attention to how it may look on your house or in your yard.

We have Centurylink for internet and phone.
 

We have CenturyLink for phone and internet. Directv's bill is processed through centurylink @ month.

Get a good internet provider and go streaming. More options for channels. Get around 100mb download speed and there should be no trouble. Stream with Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Firestick or Android boxes. Many many options and - - - it doesn't stop when it rains hard as it has here lately!! :a040:

When we converted from Comcast about 7 years ago to Direct TV which we really like
we were told that our roof warranty could be challenged if we put the dish on the roof so we had it installed in the yard and it works great. You may want to check with you insurance co if you are putting in on the roof?:ho:

Agreed. If you have internet, sattelite dishes are a waste of time. All of the streaming services (YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Philo, Sling, etc) offer free trials for a week or more. No equipment needed (other than a smart TV, Roku, or Firestick) and you can cancel anytime. Give them a try before you have some guy come over and sign you up to nail a dish on your roof.

Steaming?
 

You didn't ask, but I would strongly suggest streaming. We have Dish in The Villages and am reasonably happy with it, but we stream at our northern home and I actually like it more. The equipment charges with Dish, if you want access in multiple locations, really begin to add up. With streaming and WiFi, you can watch anywhere in your house.

My wife likes Dish because the remote makes it easier to operate, but I far prefer streaming and it's a lot cheaper. We have the high-end Roku's and have multiple streaming subscriptions, which combined are still cheaper than Dish and far, far cheaper than Comcast xFinity.

I have direct TV with Spectrum internet. You can get a great deal with Spectrum if you are a new customer, and they don't add the taxes, fees, etc. onto the monthly charge, like the others do.

I actually got a much better deal with Direct TV going through Century Link, myself. Go figure.
