We “ Cut the Cord” a few months back and went with You Tube TV , we are very happy with it . No more rain fade great programming and tons of other interest programs. So many other internet options Hulu, sling, etc.

Satellite TV experiences outages during every heavy storm
 

My daughter in Monarch Grove has Spectrum and loves it. My son in Calumet Grove has Xfinity and feels the same about his. I went with DISH because of their lower pricing and forgot to check if they had HBO (one of our favorites)! I'm stuck without it until the contract ends next spring - and EVERY TIME IT RAINS HARD, out goes the TV. We can switch to a movie instead - but if recording a show for later watching, it too, will have totally pixelated and gone out. Had Centurylink for a few years when we moved here - but almost needed to get a mortgage to pay the ever increasing bill for it at our ages! Guess we're going with Xfinity when this contract ends, since Spectum doesn't service our area of TV (just above the Savannah Center).

Dish location
 

we have had Directv, Xfinity and Dish....most recently Dish. The Dish location can depend on your installer. Once you know the direction it must point for the satellite, you can help guide the install location. We don't like to see it so, hubby spoke to installer and suggested a location right behind where our garage roof extends beyond our home roof and it's hidden very well. it's on the same side of the house as the cable access with clear sight to satellite. The installer had selected a spot that would have been partially visables as you drove by our home (and didn't require a ladder to install) but did finally install where we asked.

Direct TV
 

Have had Direct TV for years as we can take our receivers with us in our MH and have DTV anywhere. We have CenturyLink for Internet $45 per month unlimited data, total price no other costs and it won't go up (have had it for 3 yrs; it's now $49. Both meet our needs and we are happy with the service from both. I placed the dish on a long pole attached to my Lanai cage at one corner;it will never be blocked;installed myself.

Switched from Comcast to try Dish, stuck with Dish (contract) for 2 years. EVERY time it rained, lost signal, or even heavy clouds. Satellite sucks. Switched back to Comcast/Xfinity. Now have Spectrum. Might be more expensive but it's more reliable.

Location on roof or ground depends on the satellite direction. No ARC approval needed.

Not if you don't want it. "Ripped" mine off when I moved in because it was an older model. Then got DirecTV and they had no problem putting up a new one. Then I cancelled DirecTV and "ripped" that one out. I worked for DirecTV for 5 years as a tech support trainer in another life and I can assure you they do not have to stay (but they will not come out to remove it without charging to do it). Better off taking it down if you subscribe to get the latest model if you have access to it.

I like my direct tv , but even if I didn’t I’ll stay with them because they have NFL ticket and for all those patriots I’m going to hear from , I don’t Carr what you think lol

TV viewing as we know it will be taking the route of the landline in a few years. Taken over by streaming services through high speed internet.

If it happened as much as you say (EVERY TIME IT RAINS) your dish needed to be reaimed. Had it for many many years and did on occasion lose signal but rarely and def not even close EVERY TIME it rained. It survived hurricane Sandy up north with maybe 15 mins of LOS and no LOS during IRMA here. I would re-aim it when I saw signal degrading and it was good again until my mower wacked the mounting pole a few times. I eventually cancelled it because I had to start paying for it as it was 90% free since I had worked for them.

Generally not, but they are made of metal and they are usually poorly grounded by the installer. Also they aren't attractive especially if you have no need for it and they can rust (older ones) and can become a sail in hurricane winds and don't fly very stable. During our training, which was well after Andrew, we were shown (poor) installations at Homestead air base (we were DirecTV MDU providers there and a few properties in Broward) and the end results.

I went through a few killer hurricanes on coast, no problem there’s one on a house in Miami I sold to cousin long ago it’s still working, as for the way they look I don’t even notice it in back of roof . Taking it down seems to me to invite a problem where there is not one now , I hear the same thing about solar tubes which I’ve been using in last 8 homes , contrary to what people say they never leak and they don’t cause extra heat
