Maybe Disney shouldn't have tried extorting the government by threatening to withhold donations from a certain party because they didn't like a certain bill that was passed by elected officials.

Disney let a handful of people pressure them to go woke and their tanking stock reflects Americas response.

Anyone who wants to cry about moral ground let's not forget when Obama's IRS went after conservative business owners.

Politics have become down right dirty but if you stand by idle you will be walked all over in today's environment.

It's nice to have somebody willing to fight back against people who try to extort and bully their way into what they want.

He basically said you speak out against me or my policies I will punish you. Sounds like the local policy for the commissioners too.

Shareholders can deduct the additional from the overpaid CEO salary. Words have consequences

Yes because conservatives say they are about freedom and less government control and this shows only as long as you agree with me. Does Disney not have the right to speak out about gay bashing and discrimination what happened to the free speech conservatives are always screaming about.

As long as Disney makes money their stock will go back up don’t worry about that.

Completely agree

georgefloto 04-21-2022 06:17 AM

Why are you all bashing our governor

Hope the link works, if not do a Google search, the Florida taxpayers could be on the hook for $2 BILLION if this goes through.

I hope this does not go completely political.....

And the counties will tax Disney to pay off those debts. This is nothing but political fear-mongering.

It seems that this whole conversation actually began with “Disney vs Parents Rights”, when the CEO of Disney came out against the Bill that the Liberals are calling the “Don’t say Gay” bill. The only thing the Bill actually does is give parents the right to choose what their young children are taught about sex in their first few years in school.

Way too many Democrats/Liberals here

But nice attempt on their part to back Disney and slam Desantis.
Orange and Osceola counties will be impacted at first, but they will bounce back with revenue gains.

Just what happened two years ago a tax increase money from my pocket went another’s pocket. I’m paying an additional bond to support a companies success!
We had a state legislator that helped one specific entity over the tax payers he was to represent, he wasn’t on our payroll!

What the MSN article fails to point out is that the taxes that Disney pays to itself would flow to the local governments. This would largely offset the liabilities and costs associated with Reedy Creek. This seems to be yet another example of journalism that skews the facts in the name of liberalism!

Sadly, THEY apparently do not have a right to say what they believe. There is NO doubt why this action is being taken, it is a government action to retaliate against a speech that the government disagrees with - isn't that covered someplace in the constitution? Isn't free speech something we hear all the time on this forum. Or is freedom of speech only free when one agrees with the person being censored?

I hope some will look beyond the reason this action is being taken and see it is a direct attack on democracy in our country and a direct violation of the constitution.

VT here, I found the article interesting, I missed there were only 2 counties involved, but the potential financial impact was what I was trying to point out, made national news this evening. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

I really was not going to post this, probably my last close to political post. I will just go back to helping people.

I see political posts on this site everyday, but yet this line remains at the top of the web-site: NO POLITICAL REFERENCES ARE ALLOWED ON THE WEBSITE.

I don't see much discussion about the children. Does anyone think it's a good idea to start 'teaching' your 5-6 year olds about gender identity? How would you like your 7 year old coming home and telling you he/she wants to change sex ?

Actually, it will be paid for via a special tax assessment district for the area now called Reedy Creek which is currently Disney. No funds will come from taxpayers and Disney is likely to pay more taxes since they will now be a part of Orange County and subject to their rules and regulations.
