O.K. Warren. That is what it was. People Poop. Uncle.

yeah. really, if Warren says it's people poop, that's all we need to know.

I've been googling the health risks and now know more than I needed to know.

No - No -No - you should drink one maybe more large glasses of kool-aid before researching the health risks

I've played Bonifay and had the same experience. It smells like a sewage treatment plant to me and I think the wind was blowing from the East. I feel sorry for the people with linais over there. I don't think they would be usable.

Or the houses.

Went to Bonifay CC restaurant a couple years ago soon after it opened and noticed the heavy sewer treatment plant odor in that area. There are fixes to the odor problem but it is expensive. Apparently the money hasn't been spent to make the fix yet.

Well. In the spring when they spread cow manure on Ohio farms it is fragrant. Amazing how that stuff makes the garden grow.

I was over there yesterday morning and it smelled a bit like rubbing alcohol.

No joke.

Ok I don't know anything about this mysterious odor, but I know the Bonifay area cuz I live here, on Destin course. The strongest odor I get here is when my boxer farts.

I made a trip west on 466a yesterday around 10:00am and back east around 3:00pm....at both times numerous sprinklers were running and the smell was awful. The question of the day for me is why do we run sprinklers in the middle of the day? Reclaimed water or not, this is a waste of both water & electricity, AND it was raining on my return trip! I owned a home in Lake County and we were not permitted to operate our sprinklers between 10am and 5pm....reason given was that during the heat of the day, the water evaporates before it has time to absorb into the ground. I guess the water in the Villages is "fast absorbing"...ha!

Sometimes sprinklers are run in the common areas around here...even when it is raining and it is simply a form or flood control and keeping the water levels in the ponds from overflowing.

I played golf yesterday on Evans with two old farm boys. They both said that it was fertilizer.

I am SOOO SORRY I asked the question in the first place!! ☺
The smell was definitely different from the fertilizer smelland it was gone by late morning the next day. I think it was a sewer plant and it was worse than the fertilizer smell, but thankfully short lived. I know the sprinkler smell and the fertilizer smell and this was not either.
THE NOSE KNOWS!

Yeah, but if you hadn't asked the question, we would have missed 11 pages of debate, which we loooooooooove to do!

Debates, unfounded speculation, passing on rumors, arguing about which restaurants have good food and whether vegetarians have a better quality of life .... it keeps us involved and communicating. :D. Those of us who are addicted to TOTV love fresh new topics! :024:
