Some of my best friends have been dogs.

That statement in my opinion, based on experience in having lived in many places, is simply not true!
I have had several dogs over the years, but until I came to live in TV I had never witnessed such bizarro behavior by some dog owners.
Maybe old age and loneliness have something to do with folks giving human attributes to an animal?

With my daily 3 mile neighborhood walk I encounter numerous dog walkers, and the dogs without exception are friendly and welcoming. I wave and say “morning” to all walkers and carts that pass, and only 7ish out of 10 acknowledge the greeting as opposed to 100% of wagging tails that pass. To those 3 out of 10 get your “tails” moving!

Funny, that's what I say about my kids and grandkids and even occasionally my wife. :) Dogs are cute to look at but the obsession here is overwhelming to the point that if I was the dog owner's husband or wife I would feel terribly rejected and would be looking elsewhere for my own companion .... maybe a little cat to sleep with ;) and if I sadly no longer had a spouse would be looking for human companionship from friends, family and maybe even religion if that is what one is into.

So, where do you think they come from? All natives were shipped to Oklahoma.

What does that have to do with my post?

(what part of the brain is missing to condone this behavior?)

When I was in the fox hole , I never thought oh lord if I get thru this nightmare and they remove the shrapnel I'd love to pick up dog excrement in a clear plastic bag off my neighbors lawn (even tho we have a ton of dog parks for this event or better yet the dog lovers own lawn) then carry it though the neighbor hood like a bag of truffles on award night.

Speaking of truffles in bags. Happy Halloween (or fall festival) if you're opposed to Halloween for some reason)

I think my German shepherd would take you in a battle of wits.

Dogs

I love Dogs, but there are people in my neighborhood who ride a bike with a dog in tow. With the availability of Dog Parks, walking trails r u kidding me! Get off that bike & interact with that fur baby & play with them.

It appears obvious from your post that even though you say you "get the companionship part" of owning a dog, I don't think you really do. To those of us who are dog owners, they are like a member of our family, and are treated as such. Most dog owners in TV are responsible for the dogs as far as keeping them on leashes, and picking up after them. Unfortunately, there are a few that give the rest of us a bad reputation. You should consider getting one, it might change your position. They bring so much love and joy to their owners, I couldn't imagine life without one.

I do wonder what go thru a dog owners mind when they bend over to pick up the excrement with those arthritic vertebrae and feel that squish. Praying and hoping that the thin plastic bag that separates them from a horrible aftermath, with no backup plan other than wiping their hand on the beautiful blades of Gods green earth..dogs must be something very special

Perhaps you'll get it when you have a baby or when are in a hospital or nursing home & someone needs to take care of your mess.

CaptainMeso 11-01-2021 06:23 AM

If you’re asking this question then you obviously don’t like dogs.

Tomptomp 11-01-2021 06:26 AM

What makes you think having a dog is related to being retired ?
Just because YOU apparently don’t care for dogs doesn’t make YOUR way of life the correct way to exist.
Perhaps something happened to you in that Fox hole that needs attention.
