.........Basically tastes change as we age. I never listened to instrumentals when I was age 15 until just a few years ago - now I like them and have them on right now. .........There is (or was) an AM local station that played the Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin era. Incidentally, I MUCH preferred Dean to Frank ( I was always an outlier). I even preferred Blondie to Madonna. And I preferred Joan Biaz to Bob Dillon. So, go figure?????? |

One of my mom's favorites. Another example of a Top 40 to "Adult Pop" crossover hit. Did Mary Hopkin ever have another hit? |

I remember my family all together watching The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show one Sunday evening. My parents were unimpressed, but seemed to realize it was the way of popular music, and just the normal passing of the torch from one "teen age" fad to the next. My dad related to us how when he was in high school and in the Army during WWII, the young girls would scream and faint at the sight and sound of a young Frank Sinatra, and how the same phenomenon occurred in the '50s with Elvis.
I remember my mom thought the Beatles were "meh", and needed haircuts. A few weeks later The Stones were on and my mom said something like "Well, they make that other group seem pretty clean cut."...The music missed her by a mile. Of course. I had a friend whose mom, same age as my parents, always made a point of letting us know how much she loved "The Stones" and "Zeppelin"...(never referring to them by their full band names), and it just came off as weird to us. It's jut not natural. We kids kind of had an attitude like "this is our sh!t, go listen to Jerry Vale". |

Just kidding folks, I don't like his music, but I recognize others do. It's a big world and there is room in it for music I don't care for without insulting it, or insulting the people who like it. |

There could a Rap song or two that I could handle but I haven’t heard it yet. When we first moved to The Villages (several moons ago) we listened to WVLG a lot. That said, I am a man of fixed and unbending principles, the first is to be flexible at all times. Now, we listen to WVLG occasionally. It’s a fact our type of music is now only played occasionally. To each his own.
