No, the AAC will skate on that since it's South of 466. The SLCDD owns that. I think.

AGREE ! ! That's a really definite word. Seems to me, one way or another, no matter where you live, if you pay any types/categories of taxes at all...you do end up paying for things you never dreamed you'd pay for !

My understanding from credible info it is a county road, thus I could see the narrative of county tax payers footing the bill.

Marion County Issue

The entirety in question is in Sumter County. Does all of Sumter want to pay for The Villages entitled golf cart drivers? That would include local cities not in The Villages like Wildwood, Bushnell, Panaoffskee, Webster and then the Villages in the South that would never utilize the area. Perhaps it should be placed on a ballot. In short, fat chance. I doubt anyone will want to pay for the lanes.

This is so unnecessary. Never going to happen.

But I like your logic----perhaps you are willing to pay for my landscaping revision?????

Agree county owns and maintains the road. Per report, Sumter County will not pay anything. Live in this area and can't imagine how many Sumter County residents would be complaining about modifying a road so that several hundred golf cart drivers will be safer.

IF this comes to fruition it will probably be paid for by some type of tax/assessment/increased fee(s) and will not be the responsibility of Sumter County. To make matters worse, this would only help the golf cart drivers and passengers on this section of Morse.

And this area serves very few people. I live in this area and only use cart to play golf

Considering 80% of property tax revenue in Sumter County comes from TV and that TV is now paying for it's own ambulance and fire protection as well as Sumter County's...

Yes

But, most Villagers wouldn’t back the expense for that secluded corner and the entire population has a right to vote on it. You are talking about an improvement where about only 1% of the population would enjoy the improvement. Cars are available, there isn’t a need to drive golf carts around in resort style atmosphere for the entitled few. If those people want it in their district, they can pay for it, don’t ask the rest of us to foot that monstrosity of a bill.

This is actually a valid point. If I lived in that area and believed that it was dangerous to golf carts, I would take my car. I would only take my golf cart when headed to the course. Less time equals less chance of trouble. Now multiply that times everyone.

A question and an observation:

Why do you refer to Villages cart drivers as "entitled"?

And, the population 2023 Sumter Co census bureau estimate is 140,500 and that of the villages (all three counties) is 135,000, with the majority in Sumter Co. Why would you assume a ballot referendum would have a "fat chance"?

1%???????

Probably half of the Villages population of 135,000 use Morse in a golf cart at one time or another. And again with the "entitlement". Where do you live???? And why are you so jealous of those that live here????

Off Meggison South of 44 and yes we have paths that parallel 44 that we are paying for through our bonds. You do realize most people who live outside The Villages in Sumter county have zero interest in footing the bill for an extra luxury of additional golf cart paths for the golf cart riding Villagers, right? Calculating 1%, I measure the slim amount of The Villages population even living in that sector and then the addition of how many of that population even utilize carts, and then how many would actually utilize the path. Hey, if CDD 1 wants a path, create a bond for just them and make them pay for it. Don’t ask the rest of us to pay for it. Heck, we just got hit with the strong possibility of an additional 300 plus per year for fire departments.

Lets erect toll booths on Morse Blvd like the ones used in the movie Blazing Saddles and call the road, The Morse/Schwarz tollway.
