Calculating 1%, I measure the slim amount of The Villages population even living in that sector and then the addition of how many of that population even utilize carts, and then how many would actually utilize the path. Hey, if CDD 1 wants a path, create a bond for just them and make them pay for it. Don’t ask the rest of us to pay for it. Heck, we just got hit with the strong possibility of an additional 300 plus per year for fire departments.

By that reasoning maybe people who live in the Villages don’t want to pay for the library in Bushnell which 1% of the population might use.

Ya, a library might be more needed than an optional route for optional golf cart transportation? Besides, we are talking about “county” funds and a “county” road all with a several mill dollar price tag. I think the people of Webster, Panasoffkee and Wildwood would all like paved roads, public sewage, public water, high speed internet and many other more crucial items also.

Sorry, I misspoke and meant Morse. We have a few tunnels that go under it and paths that run along it from Meggison all the way up to 466 for the most part.

And 80% of those "county funds" come from The Villages homeowners.

30 years ago, the economy of Sumter County ranked 67th among Florida's 67 counties. Today it ranks 12th. Go ahead, keep denigrating The Villages----like killing the goose that laid the golden egg

ALL golf cart paths were built with bond money. Your CDD had a bond to pay for the infrastructure. The Villages has helped many, but I doubt the city of Wildwood would be interested in adding luxury to a small section of the Villages at Wildwood’s expense. All the Villages wouldn’t necessarily want to step in for an optional golf cart path. Besides, those in the Southern part of the Villages have a much larger bond to pay for infrastructure and are paying for what we have. The northern sections can do the same, besides their bonds were much smaller proportionally.

The bond was smaller 25 years ago just as the price of milk was cheaper, it’s called inflation. And the golf cart “path” on Morse north of 466(for those that want to post about TV but don’t live here) is just a lane alongside the road, so I’m not sure it was built with bond funds

This one made me think.

If the MMPs had been included as they were south of 466, the residents would have paid for them by way of bond payments. So, adding them now falls on the folks (or their replacements) who live in those homes.

Hmmm. Not an unreasonable assertion.

Why not Sumter County? It would seem that price would be a “drop in a bucket” to a county where so much development is taking place.

Actually quite a few. Read the report for specifics.

Seriously, it isn’t just used by people who live in CDD1. Just about anyone coming from south of 466 to Spanish Springs, the Historic Area, to shop or dine in the northern area, to take in a show at the Sharon, to play golf at Tierra Del Sol, Hacienda Hills, Orange Blossom, or one of the several Executive courses in the area uses that section of Morse Blvd. Have you ever seen the traffic in that area during the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade or the monthly cruise in at the SS town square? Get a clue!

Exactly Correct!

Yes, and after looking at population data

The Villages MSA vs. Florida | Population Trends over 1969-2021

About the year 1995 the population was under 40,000. That means additional development not necessarily in the Spanish Springs area adjusted almost another 100,000 citizens (the number may even be larger). These are people that may not even be roughly associated with Spanish Springs or CDD 1. The practical side is most won’t drive their golf cart for an hour plus from Sawgrass to locate Spanish Springs.

It’s nuts and bolts. We have what we have because we paid for it, all of it. If a district wants more, create a bond for that district to pay for it. CDD 1 is no more special than CDD 13. Pay the piper if you want something and stop looking for handouts from everyone else.

Too many have the “free” roof syndrome because insurance pays for it (Northern Villages).

This is a county road: That is a fact
The most credible (not necessarily preferred by those outside of CDD1) the county will issue a muni bond amortorized over so many years, thus the sell will be no tax payer will take a bit hit, if approved by the county

What does living south have to do with anything. If it is stated everyone pays then we all pay.
