Movie Theatres
 

Sure the movie going industry has changed due to COVID not so much as personal preference. Villagers have just been without movies for so long it will take a while to come back. If more theaters would open and we had once again more movie choices to go see, it would come back. Villagers like to get out, get their butter popcorn and drink and get lost in a good movie on the big screen. The movie industry is only in a state of flux because TV Management has kept it that way. Bring back the Barnstorm Theatre and you"ll see!

Exactly. Most don’t doubt that apartments would be desirable to to some but question why in the existing town squares.

I have Direct TV, one of the good things besides the NFL ticket is that instead of the villages boring TV station which I never watched anyway , I get a 2nd PBS station with some good British mysteries

I had DirecTV years ago, before cable and streaming. Great service. We also get, and enjoy many programs from the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, in addition to the normal cable shows.

As for The Villages shows, the better fare is on YouTube.

If movies were that desirable to people now the one in LSL would be booming 7 days a week but it is not.

Better fare?? Villages TV ? Somehow I can’t put those words together in the same sentence , although it’s at least a dozen years since I’ve had it, but rarely watched more then a couple of minutes usually to see how bad it was

well, you see, there are only so many Marvel superheroes they can rotate,..or redevelop into some new form. i can't remember the last time i saw decent Hollywood movie; it's all the same garbage, -rehashes or sequels way below par, so i don't even bother anymore. even today's actors suck

Can’t cause it’s only open 5 days a week. Its poorly manned, poor choice of movies, not inviting as it once was. The top rated movies are doing pretty good and the $5 movie Mondays are busy.

Two weeks ago price went to $6 Mondays. So you might not paid attention when you went to the movies, or haven’t been for a few weeks. Theaters have less than 1/4 filled most days. Once new movies are released to just theaters that may chance, but I don’t see them coming back soon

I would imagine only open 5 days as they are not getting enough business to be open 7.

They can only show the movies that come out and it does appear more have been released or in production. If they came would be more theaters reopening but demand to see movies is way down and probably not coming back.

I do wonder if they stopped paying the "talent" so much and lowered prices would they get more theatergoers?

Lots of variables, but a good overview. Blockbusters demand a premium, and in many cases a minimum guarantee which does affect ticket prices.

I'm here long enough to remember Harold Schwartz walking around Spanish Springs shaking hands with everyone that approached him and asking on feedback on what he could do better for you. He liked Teo’s Café and Saloon too. His favorite topic was "We'll build a hospital soon."

Now his son, H. Gary Morse was just the opposite. More of a recluse, like Howard Hughes. Not that there is anything wrong with that personality, just that there was much contrast between father and son. I prefer the outgoing type. Made you feel important. Old man Harold made it Florida's Friendliest Hometown. Gary made it Florida's Most Profitable Hometown.

We often saw Jennifer Parr and Tracy Matthews shopping in the stores in Lake Sumter Landing or dining at the Havana Country Club when it first opened. They were always very cordial to residents.

Sometimes attitudes skip a generation.
