Another one is at Bridgeport @ Mission Hills. There are actually many places where the gates are inside of the cart path. Doesn't really matter to me. What matters to me is when I go through a Villages gate, it means I am home!

I think it is time The Villages did away with the gates period. They serve no purpose at all. One in particular that is dangerous in the one at Del Mar Drive and Avenida Central! The cars going through the gate back up into the intersection, the cars coming from the direction of the square toward the gate, pull forward blocking the intersection so that cars can not proceed on Avenida Central. Accidents waiting to happen, as is the same with the round abouts. People do not know how to drive them, people make right turns from the inside lane. We were hit broadside, the officer said it was definitely the other drivers fault, but he could not write her a citation because the circles were considered confusing. Another time, I was forced to swerve quickly toward the curb damaging my rim, because of another person making the same sort of wrong move. If The Villages feel the need for circles, then they should all be one lane.

Welcome to TOTV.
You must be more careful when driving in the roundabouts.

Appears you may be speaking of yourself. Have you familiarized yourself with the rules?

BTW: Welcome to TOTV

Why is it that the vast majority of residents applaud the Developer's genius but then complain about the gate system? Did the Developer have a senior moment here?

And what does it say about people's driving habits who crash through these gates? Are they distracted? inpatient?

The gates are separated as to resident/visitors because residents have gate passes and do not need attention while visitors need assistance and perhaps directions from gate keepers.

The gates are a welcoming sight, useful and adds to our security

Gates

Don't you geniuses who lambast the developer for putting in gates, roundabouts, etc., think that before any of this was done, traffic flow experts were hired and studied traffic patterns and safety? What makes any of you an expert of the layouts and locations of the roundabouts and gates? Show your degree before you put your ill informed naysaying into print in this forum.
The topic has been discussed and abused ad nauseum. IT IS TME FOR THE MODERATOR TO CLOSE THIS THREAD and stop the nonsense.

Not that I disagree with roundabouts, but sarcastically calling the people whose opinion differs with the "experts," in a forum designed to allow people to express their opinions, is wrong. And remember, it is the same "experts" who designed the mess on Colony and the golf cart path.

THAT IS STRANGE THAT YOU WOULD ASK, I HAVE A DEGREE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING OF WHICH TRAFFIC ENGINEERING PLAYS A LARGE PART. WHEN I MOVED TO THE VILLAGES, WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE THAT WE WERE A CLOSED AND GATED COMMUNITY. THE GATES WERE A PART OF THAT CHARADE. IN ADDITION WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ABSOLUTE BUILD OUT WAS TO BE AT 75,000 RESIDENTS. MY SUGGESTION TO ANYONE WHO IS IN A CRITICAL POSITION REGARDING ANY POST IS THAT THEY NOT READ THOSE PARTICULAR POSTS.:MOJE_whot::clap2::clap2::clap2::D

you are correct!!! I already posted my comment that when you don't agree or grow tired of a subject, you do what you would if it were a tv program. Change channels !!!!i would alsy tell the critic that it is nearly impossible to do a traffic and safety study when the villages was only at a population of 20,000.

You accepted all of that without question? And now who is to blame?

Having a degree in engineering and realizing that pressing a red button on the gate to raise it should give rise to the idea it is not a closed and gated community.

Anyhow, between getting a golf point on rainy days, loud movies, and not liking the roundabouts and the gates - you could still make a nice profit on selling your house and finding a true gated community. Best of luck in your endeavors.
