All the money that goes into maintaining an executive course, could be re-channeled into the creation of a putt-n-play. It'd cost less to maintain since it'd be smaller overall. You could even convert some of the property into other types of golf-related experiences. Maybe if there is an exec in bad condition, close to a family pool, you could have a putt-n-play AND a miniature golf course (I'd actually enjoy that, being a total non-golfer gamer geek).

A lack of availability of adequate parking shouldn't be a reason for keeping us from using the amities that we pay for each and every month.

Agreed. The people that are acting like this is no big problem are obviously not handicapped. I know there is at least one person who is critical of many posts. I thought this was a page where people could add their opinion without criticism. If people don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything. If you are fit and able to walk the 1/4 mile you shouldn't use this option but if you are unable to walk it this is your alternate. So you have 3 choices, park at the pool and walk, get a ride from the rec. center, or park in front of someones home and pi__ them off, your final choice depends on the type of individual you are. There had to be a reason they didn't provide a parking lot for cars but I can't imagine what it could have been. They should have built this next to the archery range and dog park in DeSoto.

Thank you this is very good information., I did not know this and since I will probably not be doing one half mile each way and 1/4 mile while there. this opens some doors for me.:clap2: Someday I hope to be able to, but not for awhile.

We did the putt-n-play once and I hated it. On almost every hole, I had to hit the putts much harder than I do on a golf course and that really messed up my putting stroke, which is the hardest part of the game for me.

I assume the Putt & Play is real grass?

If so, the solution to that problem...might soon be remedied.

As the maintenance/quality of the surface decreases, as has happened on so many of the championship greens...the speeds will become more similar.

Problem solved. :D

Yes, real grass.

I actually have found the P&P greens faster and in better shape than a number of Exec greens.

The P&P is for entertainment, not professional putting practice.

It's a different experience.

IMHO, this will never happen. If anything, more executive courses are needed, not less. Secondly, the people that bought homes along the golf courses paid a premium for "golf course lots". I doubt anyone in authority would ever consider devaluing their property.

The fact that you live in Fenney leads me to believe that you know that Villagers can park at the Fenney Rec center and get a ride to and from the Putt and Play. This information was omitted from the other news site in their last article regarding the Putt and Play. I thought that to be a bit unprofessional, and incomplete reporting. I've always felt there was a bone to pick somewhere between the online news and the Villages.
After just reading today on the online news site about Wildwood ready to write warnings or citations to Villagers parking on public streets near the Putt and Play and no mention of parking alternatives at Fenney Rec center, I'm convinced the online news source has no interest in informing Villagers of facts and real news concerning events in The Villages.
I've made it this far in life without a Putt and Play, I can wait a little longer for the 44 bridge to be completed, then drive my cart there...or not.

Do they ever report all the facts?

asianthree 04-06-2019 05:04 AM

We have played the Putt & play couple of times, since it opened. My take on the facility is just to take up some time and have a little fun. Have never had to wait long to play.
I don’t think it was ever designed to help with your golf game.
It’s not going to improve putting, but it’s a place that I can take a parental unit, or grands to take up some time on a boring afternoon

bilcon 04-06-2019 05:52 AM

Wow! A half a mile walk. OMG how will you survive. I couldn't care less if I ever saw the Putt and Play. There are sooo many activities to do here in TV why pick on one small problem. Leave the people who live in Fenny alone. I would not like my street looking like the city if I lived there. That's why I moved to TV.

Do any of them?

The Happy Paper is so slanted, I've learned to tie off for 'fall protection'...before I read it.

Does any news provider ever report all the facts?

The online news source, reports enough to get clicks.

A no parking sign in your front yard is worse than a simple white cross mixed in your shrubbery .. Let's move all the tattle tales down there !!

I beg to differ. Driving miles to play is not a big deal to most of the residents. Also, it seems to me that the majority of residents have golf carts as part of the life style of living here. Cart sales are changing from electric to gas in response to longer drive times as Villagers take the opportunity to explore the new areas that are being built.

The solution to this is pretty simple. Landfill some of that pond next to where the golf carts park. You then make a small parking lot for 12 cars. This could easily be done.

I know in days gone by the EPA would never let that happen. Once just a little water has a fish, toad, or a few mosquitos, or nesting birds, it becomes protected. Even on private land. Maybe things have changed, I don't know.

ColdNoMore 04-06-2019 12:29 PM

I'm trying to figure out how anyone could enforce 'no parking zones'... in residential locations that otherwise allows street parking?

How do you differentiate between those visiting homeowners (or the homeowners themselves) and those going to the P&P, unless you have someone there full time watching the occupants getting out of each vehicle...and personally observe where they go?

How much will THAT cost...and who pays for it?

And what about yard and/or other service companies...particularly if they don't have logo's on their vehicles?

Will they be excluded, from what appears on the surface as...'selective enforcement?'

Could any (all?) other neighborhoods/villages request that their streets...be made no parking zones also?

I just see a whole lot of issues, and ultimately the legality...entering into the equation.

Time to call the...POA to the rescue. :1rotfl:
