$3700 in bond stuff. That’s a big chunk of your bill. Your post is incomplete without a price of the house to compare with other areas.

OP states they have a Kingfisher model.
On the VLS site there are seven of these new models available; the prices range from $419k to $455k. I suppose it could be more, depending on options, lots, etc.

Welcome to "the free state of Florida". This only the beginning. Wait until you try to buy a car or pay for hvac service or most anything else.

Why is there some state out there that you don't have to pay taxes on a new car or your HVAC service is free? Let's us all know where these places exist...

For those just getting their tax bill, be sure to add the amounts to the budget and the long term forecast with a 3% annual increase to confirm that you can afford the house for the next 20 years without having to sell prematurely

How about state income tax? Income tax plus property tax?

Sweet Spot

The only sweet spot for property taxes would be in unincorporated Sumter county. They milk the county for their services that municipalities must provide. Property taxes are actually quite high here.

Yes, Florida can say no to state income taxes as a claim, but that doesn’t mean they don’t collect taxes under SEVERAL other creative nomenclatures.

Then there is the fact, your “taxes” are much higher than most of the rest of Florida. There are still mandatory must pay fees like:
School taxes
Fire Assessment
Maintenance Fees
City Taxes………

What, did you think you could just move to a place that had no taxes?

Your bill is right on par (maybe a little lower) than what new home purchases will be paying. Your bill is NOT an anomaly, in fact quite normal.
