Probably millions of miles of golf cart travel here every year and very rare to see or hear of a serious golf cart accident. Poking around way under the speed limit is probably just as dangerous as moving a little quicker. I think we are doing really well around here.

:gc:In Michigan, a golf cart operating on the side of a road is considered an ORV and requires operators and passengers to wear a helmet...

Are you saying there are roads with designated golf cart lanes in Michigan????? If not, well Toto, you're not in Kansas any more.

No lanes but on many roads it's permissible to travel along the berm. Of course, the cart also needs to be registered as a ORV.

Golf Cart Speed Limit is 20 mph in TV.

We like to enjoy ourselves and do go 20-21but I don’t understand the rush. The one that had to pass me tonight proceeded to then turn 20 feet down the road.

If you cannot follow THE VILLAGES safety rules of operating a golf cart and not going faster then the 20 mph speed limit, then DRIVE YOUR CAR!!!!

Actually it's Florida State Law on the street cart lanes, but you see how that's going on the interstate.

I know what you mean, I’m driving along doing 45-50 and some idiot passes me, I’m thinking another fool in a golf cart.

Up until about a year ago, the Sumter County Sheriff was a regular presence on Morse Blvd. (North of 466), where cars and carts drive at ridiculous speeds. I travel this stretch of Morse daily to our mail station, and on some days, I feel like I am risking my life. In the past year, I don't believe I have seen even one Sheriff's car out there with radar. They have simply stopped. Our sheriff's department has a LOT of deputies and a LOT of nice new cars. I wonder why they are no longer enforcing the traffic laws on Morse Blvd.

I understand. When we decided to move here in 2015, we ruled out any resales that would require us to drive on Morse north of 466.

I’m on Morse north of 466 quite often, I never see those high speeds , in fact the road is always so crowded I don’t know how you could speed because if you could I would just like I and many others do on other villages roads

The carts that are not street legal are supposed to be topped at 21 mph. What I mean is, when we bought ours, and chose not to have it street legal, at this point, it was programmed such that it would not go more than 21mph. I personally think street legal ones shouldn't be allowed on the golf cart paths, but then the street folks would be mad because they are going under 35 mph, I guess. Back before we got our golf cart (a few months before Covid), we were hearing that 'golf cart police' were out on the paths, and stopping and ticketing anyone going even a little bit over 21 mph. I agree with you totally. Wonder if those folks are actual homeowners, or, younger family members, renters, etc that choose to ignore the rules.

From reading things here you can only get a speeding /unregistered vehicle ticket when on the street, not on a MMP.
