Deceptive meat labels

More than once T-bone steaks were labeled Porterhouse at FM. When brought to his attention, the manager reported he did not know the difference.

Sane for publix bogo items .

Luggage 03-31-2022 04:25 AM

I can't afford prime steaks secondly you should only be eating 3 to 4 oz at a time, and lastly you can buy T-Bones for $6 a pound at Save-A-Lot, put them on the grill and say taste fine. If you can afford 40 bucks for steaks he's doing a lot better than 90% of us I applaud your Investments

All this math is at 5:30 am before my coffee takes effect . It is making me hungry though. Swooner, were those over priced cow parts any good?

There is an old saying or a bible verse (it’s too early for me to remember which) that went “ A ____and his money shall soon be parted”

I love Fresh Market and have bought steaks there when they're on special. Sometimes they're advertised "per pound" and sometimes it's "per steak". read the ad carefully. Fresh Market is, in my opinion, exceptional when it comes to customer service.

Test

Fresh Market does Medicare test just like your Dr’s office does!! I do and I will continue to shop at FM.

I recently received an e mail from Fresh Market announcing a Prime Beef Sale (25% off) from Friday 3/18 -Sunday 3/20. I Paid little attention at the time of purchase to the pricing of the 4 Ribeye Steaks which cost me $65.97 after their 25% discount. After returning home I realized that each steak weighed exactly 10 ounces. They were each priced at $21.99 ea., not $21.99 per pound. Since 10 ounces is only .625 pounds, the actual price per pound of these Ribeye Steaks was $2.19/oz multiplied by 16 for an outrageous price per pound of $35.18.

I then went to the Fresh Market website (It'''s Prime Time | USDA Prime Beef | The Fresh Market) and discovered that their advertised price per pound for Prime Ribeye Steaks on the same day was in fact $24.74 / lb.

So, the bottom line is that instead of giving me a 25% discount on their advertised price for this item ($24.74/ lb.) they gave me a 25% discount on the identical item priced at $35.18 / lb. Accordingly, if I had purchased the same four 10 ounce Steaks at their advertised price of $24.74 my total cost would have been $61.85 less 25% or a net total of $46.39 versus the $65.97 price I was actually charged me for the same exact item. A quick subtractions suggests I was overcharged $19.58 based on the actual advertised price for the same item on their website.

Not only is this deceptive, in my opinion, it represents price gouging by offering a discount on a drastically overpriced item ($35.18/lb.) when compared to their own advertised pricing of ($24.74/lb.) for the same item.

Yes, I reported this to FM in writing and was essentially told, tough cookies.

I am posting this as a public service in the hope that others won't be deceived by similar future offers from Fresh Market. PS, I no longer shop there!

.......and tomorrow folks I will show you how to work out the price of fish, using Algebra!:icon_wink:

Maybe you chew a lot longer but $ 6.00 a pound steaks ain’t bad. However a really good tender steak usually costs a bit more,or maybe a lot more lol

Best Meats is a butcher shop and store. It's basic - coolers, freezers, I think one small display case, shelves and simple counters. Not dirty, just not meticulously designed and presented to elicit overpayment from Karens and Kens.

Cook them on high. Only flip them once. Enjoy.

Yes, the PRICE PER PORTION is clearly marked, just make sure you check what they actually weigh before you take them home or when you get home. I learned my lesson. "At least 10 ounces" shouldn't equal 7 & 8 ounces on 3 out of 3. They cut them and while it is likely not intentional they aren't always careful. If you ASSUME you are getting what you paid for you actually don't know.

Say what ? I didn't have to pass a test to get Medicare in a meat market. I believe I took the test at Costco. Got a B+ :1rotfl:
