The fillet part of a T-bone must be 1.25 inches WIDE to be labeled a Porterhouse.

The USDA specifies that a porterhouse must be at least 1.25 inches thick measured from the widest point on the filet, and a T-bone must be 0.5 inches thick. Therefore, every porterhouse is technically a T-bone, but not every T-bone is a porterhouse.

The fillet part of a T-bone must be 1.25 inches WIDE to be labeled a Porterhouse otherwise it is a T-bone. The " Thickness" is not a factor.

Wow! Seriously?

You are 100% correct. A knee jerk reaction without reading all the posts.

Makes me glad I am not a retailer. People do not take the time to read the label, decide the store owner is a thief and people automatically believe the OP and decide never to do business there.

the real question you need to ask

is - what was the price - the week before ? did they raise their prices to have a sale ? Is their meat 25% higher than publix or costco ?

If you ask them to cut something special (i.e., a thicker cut), they add a ridiculous fee to make the cut. I believe it was $5.00/pound, but can't remember exactly. Just make sure you ask about the premium before getting a special cut.

Why try to come up with a way to make the store the bad guy? I agree with some of the others, the OP made an unfounded complaint.

Their -current- price for prime boneless rib-eye is $29.99/lb, and their packaging is averaging .975 pounds, which comes to $29.24 "each," assuming the package is exactly .975 pounds (after the tare weight is deducted from the total weight).

So it seems like the sale price was a pretty darned good deal.

So you think hiding the fact that you are selling a $20/ lb item for$34+/ lb is not deceptive. Wow!

Where was it advertised/displayed/presented as $20/lb?

It was advertised as 25% off. Nowhere did their ad indicate that the price was over 34/lb compared to the advertised price for prime ribeyes of about $24/ lb. If you don’t think that’s deceptive you need to wake up to reality.

I was at the meat counter Saturday and the prices are clearly marked. Fresh Market is not deceptive!

The 10oz package priced at $21.99 that you picked up and put into your cart indicated the price was $35/lb. You held it in your hand and you looked at the price. What more was the store supposed to do?

I do not believe their price on boneless prime rib eye was $24/lb on a Saturday but then increased by 67% to $32/lb by the following Wednesday and is still there today. It's more likely that you misread the website.

People are so quick to blame the store when they misread the label.

Looks like the vote goes in the store's favor.
