Question #1: If you have garage screens, would you do it gain ?
Question #2: Would you install power roll up or side sliders ?
Thanks
Greg

Having had both, I will stick with my power screens. Better fit for keeping bugs out, ease of use, little or no maintenance, and more attractive.

Really like my power screen.

sliders. can go out the garage door without cats getting out or critters getting in.

We loved our garage screen at our old house and when we moved to a new house we got the same motorized screen installed by Thumper. We use it everyday and only put down the big door at night or when we both go out.

We have the type that uses the same track as the hard garage door from Thumper's Screen Garage Door (Cook Aluminum company). Love it and would get it again. It doesn't take away any height of the opening, works off the same clicker as the hard door, is sturdy against high winds, and is trouble free. Highly recommend this product. Would def get it again.

I have side sliders. Here’s something to contemplate before you go with an electric one. My garage door opener recently died on me. The man that installed my new garage door opener said that the electric roll ups tend to damage garage openers. Another point is that the sliders can be opened from outside without carrying a remote with you. It’s especially useful if you are gardening or doing work outside. But it also takes up a bit of space in already small garages. So if you have a tight fit you might look for an electric. I bought my slider for $300 delivered and installed. I bought it used and bought it on FB marketplace. I’m still smiling

Yes I have them and yes they are great.

I have the power roll up ones and in my opinion they are the best. From what I have seen of the sliders they are always blocking part of your garage door on one side or the other. I would definitely do it again. No regrets.

Garage Screen reco

For the 10 years I lived in The Villages I had a roll-up from Michelle's Screens. I love it functionally and especially aesthetically. The folks that bought our home still use it so that makes 14 years and it still works perfectly and looks great.

Now we have a new home and ordered another one about 3 months ago (takes about 2 or 3 weeks with measurements and ordering the color you want) but we depend on it and love the remote control - The garage gets so hot without it.

The cons, you need to put it up when it rains and if there's a power outage you need to wait until the power is back on. Only one power outage in 15 years and that was for like an hour so that's really not an issue.

Call Michelles Hideaway Screens - Garage Screens | Retractable Screens | Michele's Hide-Away Screens (tell 'em Carl sent ya 😜) super nice and super professional.

Good luck and either way, it's a must in Florida! Enjoy whatever you decide upon. God Bless.

Would you share the name of the contractor please. About how much did it cost?

We recently had a power roll up put in. We wanted the breeze without the worry of snakes etc joining us for dinner. Lol. We live by a pond and have seen many.
I like the seamless look of the roll up. Some prefer the sliders. It’s all about Personal preference. Good luck

I have sliders on my courtyard villa garage, installed by Michelle's about six years ago. I can't imagine my garage without them. It's still hot, but nowhere near what it would be without the screens. They look great, require minimal maintenance, and I have no problem getting my car or golf cart out.

chrissy2231 06-17-2020 08:47 AM

They're great cuz leaving them down & house door open, a refreshing breeze will come into your house. Get up & down screen as they will be inside garage door. Sliders are outside the garage door and ruin the appearance of your home..

I have power roll up and would do it again. However, keep in mind that if you do power roll up you could lose a few inches of overhead clearance in the garage door opening, depending on how they install it. So be sure to ask about that before moving forward.

Absolutely; a no-brained.
