I bought my house with two power doors; one a regular garage door and one a screen door. Each door operates with its own motor and remote opener. Screen door allows for cooling of the garage, especially after driving the car. Probably the most expensive because you have to have a second set of tracks for the screen door. I would definitely do it. I don't like the sliders because you never really get the screen door out of the way.

We put power roll up screens on our patio in Ohio 10 years ago. We loved them so much we put it on our garage in Ohio. Putting it on our Florida home was one of the first things we did. We used Michelle’s Hideaway Screens. The powered roll up are a very clean look. We can hit the remote at least 6 houses away and it’s up by the time we reach the house to pull the golf cart in without even having to get off the cart. :) I am not a fan of A/C. If it’s 80 or below the garage door is the first thing I put up in the morning and let the air flow through the house. We live in a courtyard villa and the model we live in the distance to exit out the front door is only a few steps away. To me pushing a button to raise the screen to exit the garage is not a big deal. I don’t know the cost difference between sliders and powered. Average powered is around $2500. Good luck with your decision.

I have one question.

What good are screens in garage doors anyway, manual or power?
Yes they let more light in (if you spend time in your garage).
It's just are hot inside the garage as the outside, so they don't keep the garage cooler in the hot periods.
When you don't have any, there's less expense.
Less chance of backing into a screen, (garage doors are easier to see).

Sooooo What purpose do they serve?

1. Yes, I would do it again. I am having the golf cart garage done now.
2. Power operation- 3 remotes - used Skeeterbeater- screen is located inside of the garage door. The seal seems better than the garage door seal.

do not like sliders, a real pain. changing them to roll up

One caution. My girlfriend backed her Ford F-150 into her garage to unload the bed and bent the bottom track of the screen. Too much weight. No longer did it open and close easily. I wasn’t able to fix it. I don’t know if this goes for all brands.

Absolutely do it again, power screen

In case it would fit the bill for your intentions, we installed a Phantom side roll screen door on our entry door. It aligns with the lanai doors and gives us great breeze through the house when the weather tempers a bit.

I do have garage screen doors. I was reluctant at first. I opted for sliders. I felt that roll ups would be another piece of equipment that was subject to failure. I have white sliders and I LOVE THEM. Private, no bugs and plenty of sunshine. I would do it again.

In the spring fall/winter, we like to open the house door to the garage, and on the opposite side of the house we will open up our sliders to our screened in lanai. We get a great breeze flowing through!

Screens yes, sliders yes, electric roll door NO.. why !! every time you want to go out the garage, other than taking the car or cart, you have to roll it up.. yes its electric, but sliders give more light more air, and you can pop in and out quickly if you need too, less chance for bugs to get in during the open/close process. Of course leds to go wrong if there is a problem.....

We had a power roll up screen put on our garage, and we LOVE it!! Definitely would do it again! It lets air into the garage, and keeps critters out. We don’t have a window in our garage, and it lets light in.
