Yes we need more asymptotic people among us to get to heard immunity. Free entertainment is worth it.

Totally agree. If the make the mistake of opening the squares before the pandemic is under control I hope they also open up multiple Covid testing facilities and put the ER on notice to get ready for the upcoming onslaught. I would rather wait to dance than risk experiencing what it's like to be on a ventelator.

Haven’t we learned our lesson yet about opening things up too early?? Now we’re seeing that a second wave of the virus is hitting France, Italy, and Germany. That does not bode well for the US, since we haven’t even controlled the first wave yet! Use your brain, people! Dance (and drink) in your lanai.

What is LSL ?

I hope that the squares will have nightly entertainment very soon.
If you are high risk, take precautions, keep safe, but please let the rest of us get on with our lives!

Holy Smokes! Have you looked at recent Florida and US virus data? Do you think this is remotely under control? Every school trying to open is closing because coronavirus is everywhere. The bike festival in South Dakota was a virus boondoggle for virus containment. I know you want to dance, I do too. But we need to as a society to do a little better job of being safe.

Check the data. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...-cases-deaths/

Lake Sumter Landing... market square.

gatorbill1 08-27-2020 11:04 AM

I think you will need to sign a document when going into square saying you will not file suit against ANYONE. One stating you are willing to die for the right to drink and dance.

Thank you Velvet. One of the few sensible posts on this thread. I keep up with you and know you are staying in, and that also you are a painter, an artist. Wish you would share some of your endeavors.

Some who could not take that sight should of course stay at home until they are able to accept people talking, dancing, listening, and enjoying themselves. People who are in poor health should definitely not expose themselves to unnecessary risks ! People have to use common sense... but there is very little of that to be had. Personally, if I were having therapy that effected my immunity, or if I just finished such treatments, I would follow my physician's directions AND use my common sense. I'd not to go to the squares (should they resume), or to crowded indoor bars and restaurants until my doctor felt my condition was back to normal. Just think of your own medical condition, and then "use your head" as my dad used to say....LOL... when you decide "to go, or not to go". Just also please don't pontificate, preach, or dictate what others should do. You don't know if they think the same as you. None of us know the medical histories of others completely (unless in your immediate family), so let's each and every person make that personal decision for themselves, and not start telling others what they should do.

Keep in mind, perfectly healthy people, mostly the younger ones without underlying conditions, have died from Covid. NO ONE is immune from this virus. You may think you are a healthy specimen but that means nothing to this virus. It can still cut you down.

You are being very flippant. You won't be so flippant if you wind up on a ventilator. Your last words just may be......."Oops, I guess I was wrong".

If u r on a vent words are not one of your strengths. Plus while on a vent u have zero knowledge of your surroundings. Been there twice, for more than 10 days, have zero knowledge of either event

How did it work out when people sat shoulder to shoulder at bars?

They are still sitting shoulder to shoulder. Go by City Fire in Lake Sumter any evening and every bar stool is full (shoulder to shoulder) people standing two deep behind those sitting at the bar. (Blowing cigar and cigarette smoke in each other’s faces) Belle Glade Entertainment nights and Trivia totally packed with tons of people (no distancing going on there.) Yes, both of these instances are outside but people are not more than a couple of feet from each other’s faces.
Go figure.
