Cloned Gate Cards

That gate in the historic section works with the same card that opens all the vehicle gates. In other threads you can find someone to clone one of those cards for about $30. If more golf cart gates were added using the same cards then it is highly likely the clones would pull in far more money than official Villages passes.

On the other hand, if a separate pass system was created for just the golf cart gates then there would be a need to carry two cards, one for the external gates and one for the internal gates. This would cause confusion since the cards would likely look the same. Plus, there is little to keep someone from cloning and selling the second set of cards as well and again, not much income for the Villages.

What would be the appeal to allowing neighboring golf carts into the Villages anyway? The fun of exploring the MMPs? The convenience of golf carting rather than driving? More available parking? Easier access to pools and rec centers? All of these are part of what I believe I am paying for with my amenity fee. Why would the residents, the CDD, or the developer want to allow non-Villagers access to what I have to pay for? Sure, just because they can get their golf cart to a pool doesn't mean they are allowed to use the pool, but there would be some number who would try it until they got caught (if ever).

In order to clone a card, you must have a valid card. This valid card is used to set up your clone.

Number one, money wasn’t the issue for sure! People’s attitude outside of the Village are the reason we chose not to be affiliated with the Village People! The Villages is just a copy of the Snobs in Hilton Head! I’d like to think only maybe 35% of the people in the Villages are living above their up bringing thinking they’re better than others🥴

If you hate Villages people so much, why would you want access to TV golf cart trails ? :bigbow:

I’m new here to the area and have a suggestion that may have been discussed in the past. Have the Villages ever thought of selling Golf Cart Passes to the neighboring communities? It would pretty much be a Win Win program for all involved. The Villages would have a nice cash flow yearly and neighboring communities would have access to all of The Villages Golf Cart trails and business. Which in turn generates tax dollars and extra monies within the Villages. Again, this may have already been proposed in the past but, maybe the turnover of New residents over the years might make this possible. Just thinking like $50.00 a year for an access Pass from the neighboring communities. Thanks for Your time.

Hmm. Let me get this straight. You want to give someone who is not paying the Villages taxes and amenity fees relatively inexpensive access to our community while we foot the bill? Use the infrastructure our bond payments created? Well there is a better idea……put down your dime and buy or rent within our community instead of being a freeloading opportunist. Enjoy your residence in this fabulous community and don’t worry about creating oddball income streams for the developers.

You don't like most Villagers.
You decided not to live here.
Money was not the issue.
But you want to pay $50/yr to be with the Villagers.
& you hang out on ToTV to communicate with the Villagers.

Am I close??

👍😆😆😆

Sure. Why pay your money for something you can use OPM (other people’s money) to buy. In other words why not just be a lowlife freeloader?? I don’t know.. maybe because it is classless and isn’t nice to do to a fellow human being?? Come on guy??

gwenhwalker@yahoo.com 12-16-2021 08:09 AM

We have enough traffic already without inviting other communities to add to the confusion

richs631 12-16-2021 08:15 AM

Why would anyone buy a golf cart pass. The main roads are public and the golf cart path is not monitored

toeser 12-16-2021 08:28 AM

Why would we do anything that would increase congestion and use of our trails and facilities? No thanks.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Just wants to hang out in TV which anybody can (so he can be a snob like the rest of us.. NOT), just can't use all of our amenities. People outside TV can use the squares, restaurants including the country club restaurants the grocery stores, and all other businesses in TV.

Yes I love looking down on people living outside the villages! No problem here!

sallyg 12-16-2021 08:56 AM

Sorry - but I think it's a terrible idea. Busy cart paths, less access to amenities we pay for. There have already been numerous instances of non-residents utilizing pools, dog parks, bocce courts, etc. If anything I would be in favor if stepping up security. Unlikely that anything will change.

Well, maybe if you stay in school and study really hard and work really hard all of your life, then you too may someday live in The Villages!

New here too

Also new to TV. Still can’t figure out why I would need a golf cart. Trying hard to justify the cost versus when I would ever use it.

Loving south of 44, a car seems the best way get get anywhere, even to golf.

I can get to any store or golf much more quickly with the car. Only southern oaks makes sense for a cart.

As for other developments accessing TV by cart, why would they bother. They are likely working folks and don’t have 45 minutes to ride to Brownwood or Publix. A car ride has to be their choice mode of transportation, which allows them open access to TV.
