Passed twice yesterday by the same guy. I let him pass going by Saddlebrook golf course. He was pushing so I moved over. Then he took a so called short cut thru Laurel Manor parking lot and ended up behind me again. I hope he made it where he going.

LOL. Sounds like the same guy behind me one day and he was really upset that I was in front. At the first turn he tryed to short cut thru the parking lot and came out behind me and that really set him off. I hade my radio on so I couldn't hear him but he was so red faced I could tell his language was not pleasant. I was laughing so hard I started to choke.

One of these days there is going to be a very serious mishap on these cart paths between carts. Even at 19 MPH two Golf carts on a collision course is more then enough energy to kill all aboard in both carts. Carts are far more dangerous then any vehicle. Few have any safety equipment installed. I think there is a tendency for people to get complacent about operating a golf cart.

As friendly as everyone can be here in TV, there are a select few who can be rude, impatient and always in some sort of "power struggle." We were driving thru one of the tunnels in our golfcart and a guy in a golfcart honked his horn, for no good reason. It was scary and totally unnecessary. People need to realize that, just like in their car, a bit of courtesy and compromise always works better in the longrun. Life's too short!!!

Lots of people honk their horns in tunnels...it's for good luck.

But, I guess it can be scary... just kidding...what's scary about a horn?

I think many of these "GoGoGranpa" types may be surprised to learn that they can be ticketed on the multimodal paths. They may be private property, but just as parking lots are private, they are also public access. As such, a law enforcement officer can choose to enforce the law to protect the public safety. Driving a golf cart faster than 20 means the driver is piloting an illegal, unregistered vehicle. He CAN be nailed on the multimodals. Not to mention, 99% of the time, that illegal cart on the multimodals must access that public access path via the public streets.

Actually, this should not even be a topic under consideration. Normally, these types of cautions and advice are given by parents to their children. Why do supposedly "mature" adults need to be told to obey the law and be concerned about their own safety as well as that of their neighbors?

Besides the police doing a citation, there is also the insurance issue if you are in a souped up cart and have any type of accident that needs to be reported to your insurance company. You will find that the insurance company will be reluctant to pay if the cart goes over the 20 mph limit. You may find yourself having to pay out of pocket for a lawsuit and lose what you have worked for all your life.

Besides the possibility of getting cited or having an reportable incident and paying out of pocket losing stuff, it certainly hasn't phased quite a few of these souped up carts.

I get really irritated when drivers go the wrong way in the parking lot, be it car or cart.

After an accident, how would the insurance company know that you have a souped-up cart? Do the police take the cart for a test drive to see if it can exceed 20 MPH?

I understand there is some sort of a pin or something in the motor of a golf cart that is removed to make it go beyond the 20 mph. But, whatever it is, the insurance companies know what to look for. It is their business and they do it quite well.

Therein lies the problem. Maturity doesn't necessarily come with adulthood.:girlneener:

I would believe an insurance company would refuse to pay a claim until a cart could be examined immediately following an accident. Just my guess.

If you currently drive an illegal Golf Cart and something happens, just keep the whining to yourself, you have been warned. Do the crime, you will do the time.
