Drive down Pinellas Place on any day and see how fast some golf carts are going.
I have clocked some at 30+ mph.

People need to realize a golf cart is not very safe and they continue to drive them very aggressively.

And please stop crossing the double yellow line when going past a golf cart.
Having a head on collision is dangerous.

"what's the hurry?" "what's your hurry". those statements by people irk me. I would like to travel through life at my pace, not dictated by yours. to me. it's like the ignorant people in the left lane, dictating the speed of others, who would like to move along at their own pace, not theirs. I do not have to answer your questions about what's my hurry. I could be having an emergency, or responding to someone who is having one, or I would like to just move along quicker than you, what's my hurry is none of your nosey business......... thank you very much

Whatever we can get out of our house rental cart
I can assure you it will be used.
Haven't a clue as to how fast it it goes
But by many we pass we are abused.
It is faster than many, and slower than some.
But I just floor it, and give it the gun.
It goes round corners, sometimes on two wheels,
And downhill like a rocket,
It burns the rubber but is light on gas, and very cheap on the pocket!

What's really annoying are those bicycles going 10 MPH and those insensitive pedestrians traveling at 4 MPH. Don't they know the speed limit is 20 MPH? :)

I just don't care how fast others choose to go...Just don't make your desire for speed my problem. Don't demand others live for you. Don't be a parasite.

I don't understand why more carts don't flip the way some people drive.

I've seen people coming around corners almost on 2 wheels, I think 20 is fast enough.... What's the hurry ? Enjoy your retirement safely.

The good news for all you speeders is that, at least in my Sumter County neighborhood, the sheriff must have given up on patrols on Morse Blvd. north of 466, as I haven't seen a deputy out there with radar in several months. So the cars and carts are going faster and faster.

I agree, golf carts should go at least 18 mph on the cart paths. When they go so slow it really effects the drivers behind them. Yes, were retired but were also on our way to somewhere. Doctor appointment, tee time, hair appointment, etc.

Pinellas Place is my regular drive and a lot of the carts have trouble keeping on their side of the white line. I frequently have to submit my tires to abuse by riding the center line reflectors.

So a golf cart passing you safely at 22 mph bothers you but a vehicle passing you at 35 mph doesn’t, really? Get a life! Just drive.

Your comment pretty much put it in a Nutshell. I don't care if a cart could go 100 mph, it's their ticket!

the correct speed is 19 miles per hour. The carts going faster have fiddled with them to go faster. Of course if they get in accident they will be fined a have fixed the cart to go 19 again. These carts are top heavy and do turn over easily!

wrong!!!!

We took our brand new 4 seater club car out and floored, it was doing 19 mph according to my speed app on the phone. We were regularly being driven up on and/or being left behind. Are we extraordinarily slow? I thought 20 was the max speed on the multimodals?

Just one of many rules that go unenforced
You'll learn to live with it

Around $250 plus a trip to court, where they will make you take the cart to a mechanic to certify that it can go no faster than 20mph. It doesn't matter if you were driving below 20mph or not. If you get into an accident, your fault or not, you cart may be checked by the police to see if has been tampered with to go above 20mph. And you cart insurance will not cover you if it can.

All that being said, their are loads of unregistered motor vehicles in The Villages. Most are gas carts with their governors altered. There are some "street legal" electric carts around, which are licensed and insured with added equipment. My cart can not go faster than 20mph, but I constantly get passed by idiots that come up to my bumper from nowhere and pass me going 2 or 3 mph faster.

Seems like it's always the guys with the golf clubs on the back. Must be a low testosterone thing.:ohdear::1rotfl::popcorn:

Dotneko 03-18-2021 05:30 PM

I totally don't care what others are doing. I merely wanted to know if I was somehow overly underpowered. I'm not pulling over if I am going the speed limit, though. So sad, too bad. You will have to pass me.

I don't think testosterone does what you think it does. :)

So then, why don't you tell me what it does. You seem to know a lot about it.:bigbow:
