Sounds great BK. Thanks so much for keeping us updated. Here is a tour of the Seabreeze model.

These look like pretty nice homes that are being towed out of here. Does this mean that all homes on the historic side will be uninsurable at resale?

Go to page 17 of the current bulletin. It mentions something about those homes don't meet current codes.

Thanks, BK! Interesting. From the paperwork, does it seems like Paradise Found III and Seabreeze III are the model names?

I think so, Halibut. Here is a virtual tour of the Seabreeze model.

I am so glad that nice homes like this will be built there.

Yes the manufactured homes can be moved simply by tearing apart, removing skirting, putting the wheels back on and anything in them will ride along just fine! We own a manufactured home business in NC for 40 + years. It's possible they'll provide the used homes to workers.

What is surprising to me is that there are some older rundown homes that have been abandoned an and seem to be in limbo. I would have though that the developer would have tried to pick those up at lowball prices first.

Many of the homes that are being removed are in excellent condition.

A neighbor told me that the developer is buying homes that have a mortgage and the owners just want out.

The home on Matthew was for sale through an agent other than Properties of The Villages. The owner told me that her mother was ill and that she needed to go up north to be with her.

If the 40 homes that were removed were in excellent condition and could not be insured because of code infringement, how could these less than stellar homes ever be insured? It sounds like caveat emptor.

I'm wondering if some of these owners had tried to put their homes up for sale. When they found that they could not be resold, The Villages stepped in and bought them to be taken out and replaced.

I'm also curious as to why they are taking these homes out. It's surprising to me that they would have any value. The rumor is that they are selling them to some development outside The Villages.

I disagree that it sounds like buyer beware. ????????? I would guess that the new homes will meet code perfectly.

But as you know, I am a huge fan of the developer

Yes. Paradise Found III and Seabreeze III are the names of the models. They are on the front of the blueprints/stamped drawings.

Halibut 08-03-2014 12:53 PM

Cool, thanks. Those models aren't listed on TV real estate site, so should be interesting. This is most fun there's been around here in a while. I'm like a kid on pins and needles wondering what Santa's going to bring down the chimney. :)

Maybe in some cases this is true. You, having owned a manufactured home business would know, but a crew has been working at 1018 Matthew Ave for over a week getting that home out. I have some photos of the operation, but I can't get them to upload for some reason. There were some additions made to the home plus the concrete driveway and patios had to be taken out.

They just don't slap on the wheels either. I have a photo of two huge frames that they use to put under the house. The wheel attach to these frames and the frame it then pulled by a tractor.
