Two couples went to Mallory on Wed. evening 3/5/25, for Pizzas.
I had a promo coupon for a "BOGO" offer showing "Valid 1/24/25", no expiration date.
Showed the coupon to the waitress in advance of ordering, she was very nice, said it should work just fine. Ordered, and got two fine pizzas.
Proceeded to pay with C.C. and coupon, waitress proceed with no problems.
The a few minutes later a male who said he was a manager, came to our table waving
the coupon, in an extremely loud voice said the coupon was not valid, and that I was trying to scam them. I was shocked at his attitude. I tried to ask a question as to why
it was not valid, as there was no expiration date anywhere. He just continued to virtually scream at me, with the entire dining area looking to see what was happening. He was right in my face, I told him to leave as I'll pay for everything.
He finally left in a "Huff", then a number of nearby dinners expressed absolute
shock to me that this took place.
Upon leaving I stopped by the registration desk to ask what his name was as he had no name badge. She turned away and went to get him. As I saw him coming he growled very loudly "What do you want now?" I said I don't want to talk to him, just
what his name was. His reply " we don't need people like you dinning here" I said
fine will never come back but what is your name, "he again exploded extremely yelling "I should smack you right in your face". My reply was "your an *******, I am leaving", (people in the waiting area were shocked). I went out the door with him following me outside, screaming obscenities at me, I continued to leave.
Comment: This is absolutely what took place witnessed by my wife and the other couple with us.
Unbelievable that Mallory would have a person like this function as a manager.
All this over a simple misunderstanding of the valid date on a promo coupon.
Needless to say never going back to Mallory again.

Based on my experiences at Mallory under the new ownership, I don't believe a word of your story.

First of all - where did the coupon come from? And second - the manager should be upset with the waitress for accepting the coupon

I never eat out. However, the waitress should've shown the coupon to the manager before you orderd the food.

Not saying an incident didn't happen but what are the real facts? The title of the post is "absolutely truthful about this experience" which gives me pause.

Many times coupons are issued that are good for one day only. It seems nervey to try to use a January 24 coupon on March 3. Why would you even have kept it if not to use an invalid coupon. In my experience it seems all arguments start out quietly then build in volume or erupt, but always start out quietly. In your case maybe the manager had already been arguing with the waitress about accepting the coupon, then started in on you. I’m not condoning the managers action, and if I were you I wouldn’t go back either.

One day only coupons and specials are extremely common, especially with the Suleiman group restaurants.

However, it was handled extremely poorly by the Manager…once the server stated it was valid, it was. Call and ask to speak with the owner, they will listen.

And if I know who I think the perp was, he is the father in law of the owner....hence the issue. NOT just any employee. He has been an issue since purchase

Hopefully this was recent and if so you should contact the Sheriff department and file assault charges.

Do a Google review, make it public, see if you get a response.

d1nod1no 03-08-2025 07:06 AM

The waitress also misunderstood the coupon.

I got that coupon in an email and it was clear it was for that day only. I do remember this clearly because we love the pizza at Mallory and that was a heck of a deal. We jumped in the golf cart and came over for pizza. Our server was aware of the one day only promotion so I’m surprised OP’s server was ready to accept it.

Regarding the manager’s behavior, he sounds mentally unstable. There would be no circumstance I can think of where this behavior would be acceptable.

Rainger99 03-08-2025 07:35 AM

From looking at their website, it appears that pizzas cost about $15 each. I would think the bad publicity (from the other people in the restaurant at the time and for those reading this on TOTV) would cost them more than $15.

Beyond The Wall 03-08-2025 07:42 AM

I would bet he’s not working there anymore!

With all due respect to the OP, I tend to agree. Or at the very least there may be some "embellishment". Here are the phrases used to describe the words and actions of the manager:

extremely loud voice
I was trying to scam them
continued to virtually scream at me (I think the OP meant literally)
He was right in my face
finally left in a "Huff
he growled very loudly
" we don't need people like you dinning here" (I think he meant dining, but the argument was a din)
he again exploded extremely yelling (I hate when that happens--messy)
I should smack you right in your face". (What did the sheriff say)
with him following me outside, screaming obscenities at me,

Again, with all due respect, this is inconsistent with any experience I've had or seen at Mallory, any other Sulieman restaurant, or with any manager anywhere. Prefacing that post with stating it is the "absolute truth" does not add to the believability factor at all.

Does the OP truly believe this is exactly what happened---maybe. But this is why law enforcement tends to disregard "absolutely truthful eyewitnesses". Plus, this all started because the OP didn't understand the meaning of "Valid 1/24/25" as opposed to "valid as of 1/24/25"
