Oops, I am very much a GIRL. I guess 'cause I said "golfing buddies" that confused you. I haven't seen you in a long time (my bad) so I'm sure you have forgotten. Hopefully, I can remedy that soon. Seems like hubby and I spend all our spare time at the doctors' lately. (They failed to list that as one of the chief activities in TV in the advertisings.)

You wonder why I spelled it this way? Because I wanted my license plate to read Happynow but someone else already had that so I changed it to Happinow. My husband's plate reads Happitoo!

When I started my first job, back in the dark ages, in Appalachia, running a large center, people there did not know what to do with a lady doctor. Neither did my male staff. I told them to call me by my first name. One day, my secretary, who was getting tired of telling people who were calling me that I was a female, she just said "lady doc can take your call now." The name stuck and I have been using it for a very long time.

teachnmo 03-10-2012 12:12 PM

teachnmo

Most of my educational life was spent teaching in Missouri...thus teachnmo. However I have also taught in Texas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Arizona. While I thoroughly enjoyed my life teaching mainly special education students, I also thoroughly enjoy getting my retirement check each month. I thought I would miss it much more than I do.

ariel 03-10-2012 01:56 PM

My precious little Maltese dog, Ariel. Unfortunately, she passed away on January 6 at the ripe old age of 17. I have so many happy memories of her; she was quite a girl.

Bill-n-Brillo 03-10-2012 02:01 PM

Bill-n-Brillo.......hmmmmm.......

'Bill': That's the easy part. 'Brillo': A nickname I've always had for Sandy, what with her naturally VERY curly hair. Those who have met her understand. :D Some people think it's rude to call her Brillo but she likes it. Honestly, some people I used to work with always only knew her by that - they'd eventually wind up asking what her real name was!!

Initially, I was thinking of making my member I.D. ................ 'Hoosier Daddy'.

:1rotfl:

Bill :)

Wow, that's how my name was born too. Cruise Critic (another great site) was the first place and now it made it to TOTV.

Pathel 03-10-2012 03:48 PM

Family name.

CraigAC 03-10-2012 05:14 PM

Not very original for me:

Middle name followed by the first letter of my last name.

Finallyfree 03-10-2012 05:18 PM

Decided on mine when I retired at the end of October, I kept walking around saying "I'm finally free" of the rat race. Hence, Finallyfree. My husband does not have one yet, he says I am the family mouthpiece. Hmmmmmm

tv2016 03-10-2012 05:48 PM

TV2016 - my goal is to move to The Villages in 2016 - if I can possibly wait that long!

Dirigo 03-11-2012 12:26 AM

State motto

Dirigo is the motto of the State of Maine where I lived for 61 years before moving to The Villages.

Dirigo, pronounced DEER-ago, is Latin meaning "I lead".

I use the name Dirigo as a tribute to my home State.

islandgal 03-11-2012 06:12 AM

I lived on an island for 17 years before moving here.

BeeGee 03-11-2012 08:34 AM

old nickname

My older sister would call me Bee Gee (initials and we were fans of the singing group) so it's a name that brings back the good memories for me and the good times that we had. Sorry it's not more imaginative :sigh: but it works for me.

SunCity 03-11-2012 08:42 AM

it's where we live.

we live in sun citiy west in arizona and enjoy reading about your community and comparing the pros and the cons. one of the pros is that we didn't have to change our clocks to daylight savings time. but we think your community is much nicer in many ways.

Bosoxfan 03-11-2012 09:05 AM

My name is pretty obvious! Not a fan of "The Evil Empire" (NYY)

l2ridehd 03-11-2012 10:53 AM

l2ridehd means "love to ride Harley Davidsons" Especially my 2006 Road King.

Tickled_pink 03-11-2012 10:59 AM

I'm just Tickled Pink to wake up every morning with both feet above ground!!! :a040:

mac9 03-11-2012 11:17 AM

My initials and my birthday. Real original, huh?

cuzg8tor 03-11-2012 11:32 AM

How Did You Come Up With Your TOTV Name?

I have been using "Cuzg8tor" for over 20 years. Was raised by my Dad to be a diehard Florida Gator fan (am a native Floridian) but we lived in Syracuse 1987 - 2004 where I adopted the handle of Cuzg8tor or "Syracuse Gator".

kentucky blue 03-11-2012 11:47 AM

I went to the University of Kentucky to play basketball for the Big Blue.............................Go Big Blue !!!!!!!!!

FoPAA 03-11-2012 01:32 PM

My name (pronounced faux pas) comes from being a flight attendant for Pan Am for 21 years, then for Delta for 16, hence FOrmer PAnAm.

BmoreGal 03-11-2012 02:57 PM

Born, and lived my entire life in Baltimore, Md. Althought some would refer to it as "Smaltimore" since you can alway find someone who knows someone that you know...

Happinow 03-11-2012 03:02 PM

Thanks for your responses!!

This was truly fun getting to know everyone a little better. The meaning behind your TV name gives us all an sneak peak inside your life. It's been fun reading all of these posts. :bigbow::BigApplause:

skyking 03-11-2012 03:30 PM

Pilot. Obviously an "old" pilot to be able to remember the name of a 1950s television program of the same name.

rubicon 03-11-2012 03:31 PM

Briefly it is said that the name Rubicon derives from an event which occurred in 49BC wherein Julius Cesar crossing of the Rubico River ( Northern Italy) was viewed as an act of war by the Senate. Hence by crossing the Rubico was considered an irrevocable act , hence a firm commitment .

Being committed speaks to my beliefs in my marriage, in my work life with my friends, etc . My handshake is my bond and I have never gone back on a commitment.

eweissenbach 03-11-2012 03:40 PM

My real-life name is Ed Weissenbach. It is so long that I decided to shorten it for TOTV.

CFrance 03-11-2012 03:43 PM

How did you get your screen name

"C" is my first name initial. We lived in France for awhile after retiring; would love to go back and "C" some more.

HawkeyeBarb 03-12-2012 04:15 PM

My first name is Barb and I am originally from Iowa. My husband David is a Purdue engineering grad....so I refer to him as BoilerDave.
These are really fun to read...great thread!

3Roses4me 03-12-2012 07:09 PM

3Roses4me

I was blessed with 3 children. Rose is my Great Grandmother's name and my middle name after her.

Number 6 03-13-2012 12:21 PM

This is a homage to a '60s British televison called the Prisoner. He was a secret agent who resigned and was kidnapped and taken to a place called, "The Village". No matter what he did he could not escape. He was called "Number 6". Well, you get the point.
"Be seeing you."

I once worked with a guy of Greek descent whose surname had 50 letters.

He shortened it to Pappas

bless you for teaching special education students!

oh, yes, my name is because both my husband and I have "C" for our first initial, we just added on our last name.....not too imaginative, but it's the one we use for cruise critic and the Disboards, too.

flamingo 03-15-2012 05:22 PM

Nothing to do with the bird---

an acquaintance used to write under the alias Billy Flamingo. Now it's my alias. Perhaps I should change it to Calico, or her name, Mistletoe.

My wife was a Special Ed teacher for 34 years.

Tom Hannon 03-16-2012 09:33 AM

I came up with the name Tom Hannon because it was the name my parents gave me when I was born. Actually, when I signed on with TOTV I was aware that the name I used would be my screen name. Otherwise I would have used TOJOPA which many people still call me. It was the name of my business I owned for 36 years. Stands for TOmJOePAtrick which was my full name. Happy St. Patty's Day to all.

Yankee Quilter 03-16-2012 11:15 AM

Silly me thought you had to have one, so used one from a blog! Yankee because I am from Connecticut (go Lady Huskies) the whole family are NYY fans and, now living in the south, I am learning to be damn proud to be a Yankee! Quilter because I dabble in it, love it and wish I could be fabulous at it - oh well, a thread ripper is my favorite quilting tool!!!
This is a great thread!
