Give me a medium-weight down comforter and no top sheet (european-style), and I am happy all year.

I think cotton sheets are a must in hot weather.

In our winters, we set the heat to 64 to 68. We do not have AC.

We use cotton/percale sheets. They are very crisp. I like the ones from a company whose name has just flown out of my mind, but I will dig around in my memory if you are interested.

I can't stand any kind of smooth (pima cotton or silk or anything like that) sheet as it makes me hot. These sheets are inexpensive, crisp, stay cool, and I do not use any fabric softener on them.

Now what the heck is the name of that company. It's online. OH... The Company Store. Their next-to-cheapest cotton percale, 300 thread count. Plus they are sold separately, so you don't have to buy a whole set. I buy king size, but we use standard-size pillows, so I'm not wasting money on king-size pillowcases.

If you are used to Alaska weather, you might be hot while sleeping in TV in the summer even with a/c on & fan running.

I have to say looking at the temps that many of you keep your houses at is making me feel cold. Here up north our A/C is set at 77 during the day and I only bump it down to 76 at night but keep the fan on for better circulation to the upstairs. We find it pretty comfortable unless I'm doing some heavy duty cleaning or something. Having said that our last electric bill up here was over $250! I don't think our tenant in TV has ever reached even $80 and the last time I stopped by there the house was on the cool side to me.

Just another reason why I can't wait to get there full-time. It will be nice having extra money in our pockets considering the difference in utilities and taxes. I can think of a thousand things I'd rather do with that money......

Sorry, OP, for going off topic here, but thought you would also like to know how reasonably priced the utilities are in TV. I wouldn't worry about keeping your house at a temperature that is comfortable for you. Most likely, you won't have to sacrifice your shirt to pay for it.

I read on another thread that you can just sit in your car in your driveway with the AC on, listening to music and drinking beers.

I just do that now.

Cool shower, silk sheets and high quality quiet fan.

Well, my mother did... But not me. But I don't care. I'd rather be cool than permanent pressed.:)

We use Parchment Paper for the crisp feel while sleeping. Plus you can then use it afterwards for baking cookies.
