I'd never screw directly into the vinyl siding. You have two options:
1) The vinyl siding hooks that everyone has been mentioning, or
2) if the metal hanging is relatively light, buy some heavy duty magnets on Amazon, stick them behind the vinyl siding, in the metal hanging will be supported by the magnetic field.
I recently used the magnet trick. It took a little time, but it was absolute best way of doing the job.

The answer to the question seriously resides in how heavy the item is. If heavy as in 10# or more, as someone said locate the studs. Other than that u may be able to find Command hooks that will work. Get the outdoor version.

Do not put holes in the vinyl. Amazon has hooks for holeless hanging. They push up under the sliding panels and work very well. Spars h as them but only in large size. Putting holes in your siding will let water behind it, not a good idea

Vinyl siding hooks. They hold very well and can be slid left and right easily for adjustment. Use multiple hooks for heavier artwork. Search Amazon.

The no hole hook. The model I have has a 5lb limit per hook.

Go to Ace hardware. They sell hooks that go on siding. They come in several sizes depending on the weight of the object. They seem to be the only place that has them. Good luck.

Make sure your metal wall hanging is clear coated to keep it from rusting.

You can buy clips on Amazon that slide up under the siding. No screws or holes. Holds up to 18 lbs.

You can purchase metal hangars that attach in the groove without puncturing the vinyl. I think I got mine from Ace

There are special siding hooks that you can buy at hardware stores, Lowe's, Home Depot, Amazon and the like.

They were invented by my cousin about 20 years ago. He was a home builder and homeowners were constantly asking him how to hang decorations on vinyl sided homes and there was nothing unless you wanted to void the siding warranty.

He invented and marketed these hooks and quit building homes.

So really no way of not drilling through the ceiling vinyl it seems.

If I’m hanging anything at all heavy from a ceiling, I want it to go directly into a rafter or truss, and I want a screw made for that that won’t easily pull out. Where are these trusses? Sometimes you can tell by looking for faintly discernible lines where the vinyl is attached to the trusses, but not always. If the vinyl is attached to the trusses and not at random to OSB, then you can easily find it with a stud finder, as there will be a line of nails every few inches. However, most people would need a ladder, electric drill, and electric screwdriver for this. Someone at Lowe’s or Home Depot can help you get the right screw.
