Hello, Bought Yamaha gas, the only way to go with Curtis Cab, and drove < 200 miles in 1 year. Sold car. Everything is accessible by Golf Cart except Sams in which case I call a friend & we both go. I live in The Historic Side, The Best Side. No need to go father south than 466.

I'm here full time were not big travelers avg. 8000 miles a year . The need for 2 cars is a personal thing some of my friends 2 car is a classic or bucket list vehicle.The cart gets about 4500 miles for the year.

I put on my car about 5000 a year. You need a car because most of what you do food shopping etc is far away such as Costco good restaurant sight seeing etc

I have two cars. My wife is very active as am i. I drive my car between 4,000 - 5,000 a year. My wife slightly higher.

I live in the northernmost section of TV so drive my car more than those in a more central location. My car is a year and a half old and I have 3,000 miles on it.

Well when we moved into TV in 2012 I bought a brand new 2012 Yamaha cart & in 2018 another new one, the 2012 had 26,000 miles on it & still running with no major problems. We bought our 2018 cart in Dec. of 2017 sorry to say when we moved from TV in April of 2019 I sold our 2018 cart with 5,000 miles on it. So yes if you want cheap transportation by a Golf Cart to run around in TV. Enjoy TV!

Each person decides how they're going to live once they arrive. My wife and I each have our own golf carts and we drive them everywhere except when it's raining or we leave "campus". We may drive our car a few hundred miles a year and I drive my cart around 5,000 a year. We've always had two cars but get by very nicely with only one here in TV. I suggest you live here a while to see how you are going to "live" and then decide what will be your primary source of transportation.

We downsized from 2 cars to 1 and a golf cart. I use the golf cart to golf (duh!) and run around on errands. To dine out, buy groceries or run errands more than a few miles away, we generally use the car. So far, we've almost never felt the lack of a second car but that doesn't mean we don't use the car. In fact, prior to the pandemic, we were pounding more miles on the car than we'd ever put on either car and maybe more than on both cars. That's because we now have the time to explore and have been all over Florida from the panhandle to the Keys and on both coasts plus have driven up to North Carolina, South Carolina and even Michigan to visit friends and family. That and airport runs for the many folks who have come to visit us!

Another part of the problem is how likely are you and your spouse going to want to use the car at the same time. For me almost never. Have two cars and one cart. One car would work. If costs are not a problem bring the second car. Otherwise think about one car but the possibility of buying a second car if your lifestyle dictates. Rain does not bother me when using the cart. If it bother you, you may want a second car more offen.

I’ve had my car about 2 years and 10 months and just went over 9,000 miles. We aren’t snowbirds and we generally fly to distant family rather than drive. Hope this helps.

Of course, this isn’t a “normal year”. But what should know about The Villages is it’s physical size, particularly from north to south. From CR 42, roughly the northern end of The Villages, to the area south of Fenney where construction is underway, is almost 33 miles! That’s longer than the City of Chicago, by several miles!

So the answer is really three questions...

— Where in The Villages will you live? Right now Brownwood is roughly the center of TV, but as building continues the “center” will move south.

— Will you be willing to limit the range of your activities - golf, shopping, eating out, concerts or movies, doctor or dentist, club meetings - to venues nearby the village where you plan to live?

— How much time will you be willing to devote to “commuting” using your golf cart? Remember, about the fastest you’ll be able to navigate the multimodal paths, stops, circles, tunnels, etc. is about 10 mph.

Answer those questions and you’ll know whether you’ll be a two-car family, golf or full sized.

We have 2 vehicles and a gas cart. Since Covid, very low mileage. Hubby uses cart for golf and going to get mail. After the first year and the novelty wore off, I realized that I don't like driving the cart. Too dang hot most of the year, getting caught in rain is a pain, and would never use for shopping, appts, etc. We go outside of the 'compound ' for many things. Until I am no longer able to drive, I will never give up my own car. We have different schedules and spouse is out a lot and I would hate being stuck at home without car. Trip to VA clinic is more than 30 minutes by car. We used to travel a lot throughout Florida, GA, SC, TN until issues with elderly parents ended that. Now we still don't go anywhere but hope to if things ever get 'safe' again. We miss the change of scenery and getting away from TV once in a while. Keep in mind 2 mid size vehicles will barely squeeze into a standard 2 car garage and unless you gave a golf cart garage, one car will be baking in the heat and sun all the time.

We had to sell our golf cart and buy a 2nd car. The golf cart was too slow for the expanded Villages - max speed 19 MPH. It would take 40 minutes to go from CR 42 to CR 44.

When I was driving to Orlando once a month I was hiting 1500/yr. That encluded drivi g to all the Rec. Centers for shows. The cart comes in handy for getting the mail, hitting the pool and the gym. Mine is electric, no gas smell, but slower.
