Newcomers will likely ask where people go if there is a tornado warning since there are no basements here!

Newcomers will likely be staring at the beautiful clouds and taking pictures of them on a daily basis (hope I always remain a newcomer in that respect)!

Newcomers will likely ask where they can take the excess "stuff" from up north that they HAD to bring with them!

Newcomers will likely trade their gas-guzzling SUV for a more efficient car!

When they announce a tornado watch ANYWHERE in Florida you grab your flashlight, charged cell phone and dogs and jump in the closet.

The newbies are the ones still asking where the new mall will be built, the one with all the upscale stores and restaurants.

Yep, the one with the Coach store. It will be right next to the water park.

Your turn.

I have been in the villages for over 3 years now, and have been appalled at the way some Villagers dress to go out to dinner at nice restaurants & country clubs, concerts at Savannah Center, & even church. Ladies usually look very nice, but it's time to clean out hubby's closet & get him some new shorts & shirts that match that don't look like they belong at the nearest Salvation Army store! I think the newer resident's are bucking the trend to wear "anything anywhere", and are improving the image of TV overall.

Saw a guy last week with turquiose shorts, and a non matching blue shirt.
Loafers with dress socks up to the knee!!!

He didn't have any fashion sense. Definitely a SA fan!!! :D

Won't make the ten best dressed men, in America.

graciegirl 06-15-2014 08:05 PM

They don't yet have a dog in the passenger seat of their golfcart.

I must confess Sheldon and I somehow managed to get our very slow golf cart that came with our lifestyle cottage onto the bridge at Morse Boulevard and could NOT for the LIFE of us figure out how to get off the danged thing. There was a two foot wall separating us from the cart path. We were praying there would be a panic space in the wall at some point so we could get off the danged street.

Some guy on the cart path honked his golf cart horn at us, pointed and laughed like a hyena. We were MORTIFIED!

Loudoll 06-15-2014 09:08 PM

the women are wearing big hats

Loudoll 06-15-2014 09:09 PM

and they are at the squares every night

He wasn't a member of the friendliest. He was a member of the jerkiest.

They aren't wearing a golf shirt.

And they actually show appreciation for the entertainment by clapping.

collie1228 06-17-2014 08:44 AM

They use their golf cart directional signals and actually stop at stop signs.

graciegirl 06-17-2014 09:02 AM

Some of them still cut their own grass....for awhile.

Cedwards38 06-21-2014 10:03 PM

They feel compelled to play golf, tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, bocce ball, basketball, softball, and join a dozen clubs, and don't take naps, and dance every night at a town square, and go out to eat every night, and wonder why they are so tired!

And then they experience "Villages Burnout".
Then they nap every afternoon and sleep eight hours every night.
They gain a pound every week.
And it suddenly occurs to them
"We're not on vacation, this is now our home!"
And what a wonderful place to live!

Oh My Thank you Gracie for this thread. I will be a newbie the end of July and I have to admit when we were on the Lifestyle preview we did a lot of those things. We still have the grin on our faces every time we talk about TV to our friends. We tell them they have to come to TV because you can't explain that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you are in TV. The people are amazing. It is the most beautiful place and we want to be a part of it. I never thought I would leave Ca. I am a native and never lived anywhere else.

I still can't believe we will be frogs soon. We are tired because of all the packing. We have 46 years of stuff to sort out. I just keep looking at the end result knowing it is worth all the craziness in our life right now.

Yes GG thanks for starting this thread. We too have laughed when reading all the posts and yes we are "guilty" of doing most of what has been posted.

And we do still have that grin on our face........does it ever go away?

MINE is still there and so are Sweetie's and Helenes and so many folks who we personally know who post on this forum are always smiling and hugging. There is so much fun here, and so many ordinary nice people who have a great deal of patience with each other and are pretty savvy about day to day events.

Good morning everyone. Where is a picture from Alemorkan and Shrandall?

And...Thank you God.

Blessed2BNTV 06-22-2014 06:18 AM

Yes most importantly.....thank you God!

OBXNana 06-22-2014 07:36 AM

Does the Memorial Day to Labor Day rule apply to wearing white in The Villages? I was guilty last October during our preview.

I have official permission from the Morse Family to abolish that rule. Just tell everyone you're wearing Winter White between Labor Day and Memorial Day:clap2:

We're guilty of so many of the other things that show we're new to The Villages, I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb wearing white after Labor Day! Thanks

That rule died years and years ago.............just like people who followed it.
