Ed...I wouldn't FORCE cookies down your throat....just follow me into the woods as I drop these crumbs. I am Gracie the GOOD witch.

AND after being a snowbird for three years, we are now officially frogs. This is our eighth Frog day. Going every day to watch our Frog home rising from the sand.

Already have many of you as friends and some who have turned into flesh and blood friends, and a few who are sick of me.

I just love TV and TOTV and I even love the Morses, worts and all........

To clarify, and apoligize for the confusion, I meant that as a compliment. I am one who appreciates a fine sense of sarcasm, and you stand out as one of the best, and NOT in a hurtful way. Maybe my sense of humor and expression is a little too off-center.

Oh. ...Nevermind.:o

BTW Ed, Your clarity and humor are always terrific. It's my brain that's partly cloudy. :mornincoffee:

We have found ourselves with the same addiction. We can't stay off of TOTV.

Besides that, I created a web page with a countdown timer, the web cams, the weather and links to things about TV that are most important to us.

And originally we were counting down to April 2012. Now we figured out a way to shorten that to October 2011! :MOJE_whot:

Best of all, when we arrive we will be greeted by new friends that we haven't met, but friends that we already know. :highfive:

Isn't it refreshing to fine we aren't along getting carpel tunnel going from TOTV to TV websites trying to get a "fix"! We are "six-year addicts" and still looking at homes daily. Now going to www.zillow.com and private realtor's sites looking at homes and are probably a year out from becoming "frogs"!!

We're hooked like y'all and darn proud of it!!:a040:

2BNTV 07-24-2011 12:03 PM

I appreciate a lot of people's humor as that's how certain people become friends on TOTV. Good caring folks to numerous to mention.

I really appreciate some of the newer members as every club needs new blood.

This is not a clique but people who have befriended other people because they think alike and are soooooo helpful.

TOTV Rocks!!!!!!

You can't take life too seriously, your not going to get out it alive. :D

I can relate. We are now 3-year residents. I am compulsive about getting my work done first then playing, For over a year before we moved here I would allow myself a treat - to get on TOTV after my work was done. I often travel and sometimes on the road I wouldn't finish my reports or preps for presentations etc until 11 p.m. That's when I would get on TOTV. It has been not only informative as you all have noted but a source of friends after we moved. And yes I'm still addicted and it's OK. Welcome to all those who are considering a move - it is truly a wonderfully amazing place.

Ok, I'm getting off the computer now.....just looked (again) at every house offered for sale by the Villages sales office..have my map next to me to see where each village is located...finding pre-owned houses that will definitely be sold by the time I'm ready..picking out the new model I want, and finding myself envying everyone living there...geez...I really do need to get a life...but this is so much fun!! ok..talk to you soon...oops..write to you soon?...and, ultimately SEE you later!!

I am also guilty of this.

Trish, Somehow you can sign up with an MLS realtor to get all of the new MLS listings (and price reductions) in TV e-mailed to you based on your criteria (home size, price, etc.) I usually get about 2 or 3 e-mails every day sent to my work e-mail address for these listings. Hey, I can't spend all of my work day looking at invoices and purchase orders. My employer's IT department will probably slap my hand sooner or later for these e-mails... :ohdear:

Trish Crocker 07-24-2011 07:45 PM

Thanks Schauburger! Right now, there is no way possible for us to buy, we still have to sell our house and then my husband has to sell his practice. God only knows how long all of this will take. I'm a realtor here in Michigan but after looking at this depressed market and all the foreclosures and short sales it's so nice to check out everything the Villages has to offer. When are you planning on moving?

Trish, I won't be buying in TV for a few years...I will be a long time wannabee. I just like to see what is on the market in TV in case some kind soul drops $200K into my mailbox at home. :) I'm one of those people who has to have a long term goal to plan for...now for my sister who is 3 years younger than me, long term planning is what to fix for dinner tonight...If you are a realtor, you probably are familiar with this program of sending listings by e-mail. I guess I just love to torture myself. :ohdear:

about SkyGuy

To PTurner, I wondered about Skyguy too so I PM'd him. His is ok just was gone for a couple of weeks.

runnermi 07-28-2011 09:37 AM

I am guilty of checking in often also. If I mention TV one more time at work, my coworkers might beat me over the head with whatever is handy. I am sure they are sick of hearing me talk about it. I even have one of the floor plans pinned to my cubical wall to remind me of what I am working towards.

I turn off the sound on my laptop when I want to check out new listings. I am torn between a Patio Villa (I am one person, how much room do I really need?) and the Woodlawn courtyard villa.

Schaumberg and I are in similar situations. I am a wanna be who is planning on being a FROG some day. Not today, not this week, not this year but some day.

I visited for a short afternoon two years ago. Instead of making things better, it made my itch 200% worse. Sigh.

Can't say I check in during the middle of the night, I tend to sleep like a rock.

Trish Crocker 07-28-2011 10:28 AM

Gail, we are in the same boat. We went for a 5 day visit last month, now it's all I think about. I've quit talking about it to friends and family, they won't understand until they come to visit.

Yorio 07-28-2011 01:51 PM

I am not addicted

I am currently in Mid-Atlantic and my license plate frame is of TV. I have two caps with TV logo which I wear most of the time. I have 4 T-shirts with TV designs which I wear puttering around the house. I do on occasions go to You Tube and watch the same developers presentations. I do go to Yelp to see what reviews are there for TV restaurants though I am 900 miles north. I do spend a couple of hours in the morning reading TOTV chats but I don't consider myself an addict.

Step One is admitting you have a problem............. :D And trust me, you're not the only one. "Who....me???", Bill queried.

After checking the posts, I then go on to "THEVILLAGES.COM" just to look at all of the new listings, both new construction and pre-owned. It's gotten so bad, I turned the volume down on my speakers so my husband can't hear the Villages theme song...help!! :22yikes: The first step to getting help is recognizing you have a problem, upside to that is realizing that there is a solution...all it's going to take is to sell everything and retire...see you soon and keep the posts coming!

Trish

Trish,

This could just as easily have been written by me. Since I got The Villages bug, I can't stop thinking about how I'm going to spend my time there, where I'll live, and who I'll hang out with, and I'm still a good year and a half away from retirement.

Oh well, it beats checking Facebook and Twitter, doesn't it?

Jim

LB 07-28-2011 04:58 PM

Us too!!

We have had the disease for three years now. It only gets worse as the years pass ( and they pass very slowly) . I sometimes call my wife at work and play the Villages song, or send her a picture of Sumpter landing. This thing controlls our life. We recently took a couple weeks to visit family in Michigan and came back through the Shennandoa Valley in Virginia. I am more excited about our next visit to TV (Labor Day) than I was our trip to Michigan. Therapy won't work. Hang in there all! We are trying.LB & LB

LB 07-28-2011 05:35 PM

Oh forgot to mention

The first thing I go to on the internet each morning before work is the web cams of Sumpter and Spanish Springs. Can't wait until there is on in the new square!! Always check in again after 5:00 PM to the web cams again!!

graciegirl 07-28-2011 09:40 PM

Gail and Trish, My nine year old niece thinks I'm moving to TV in a few months (I think she's planning on a trip to Disney World and she wants to stay with me). I keep telling her, not this year, not next year but someday...my goal is to be in TV by the time she graduates from high school, God willing and the creek don't rise... And is 2 visits to TV this year another sign of addiction?? I'm guilty as charged, but I get 6 weeks of vacation, so I might as well put a couple of those weeks to good use.

Trish Crocker 07-28-2011 10:10 PM

Just got back from a great evening...and got to spend it with Gail...she's a fellow totv fanatic and we met at a wine tasting tonight. Thanks for coming Gail, great meeting you and can't wait to meet at TV~

I wish you folks would get hold of yourselves. Take stock. Follow the Zen teachings and you will find that you need nothing....nothing at all.

I am going to stop now and have an early lunch and then get back to TOTV so I can post some more Ciao.

No addiction

De Nile is in Egypt but like cable across the Atlantic comes up in Florida and pops up in Lake Miona. But, I still don't have addiction like many of you because I didn't pick up my I-Pad for 24 hours to look at what's going on TOTV. Though I did go to You Tube and watched line dancing at Spanish Springs.

Trish the basic tenet of Zen is as follows: All is sorrow. Sorrow derives from desire. Eliminate desire and you can then eliminate sorrow. I keep threatening my bride with that ideaology but she is always one step ahead of me. I'm so easy. Its like my brother says. All things in moderation....and I require a lot of moderation:D

Laura, you and I are so close in our planning and when we hope to move it is scary. If I can retire when I am 62, I am 8 years and 7 months way but who is counting? :p I may move down before I retire. One of the advantages of having a portable job. But like you said... The Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise!

It was fun meeting Trish and her husband Thursday night. I think I saw their friends roll their eyes a few times as we spoke about the Villages. Trish confided to me that when she can't sleep, she lays there and thinks about how she will decorate her new home. LOL I have done that also.

Sanity is highly overrated. :-)

jojo 07-31-2011 12:56 AM

Back to the title of this thread - I think I may need an intervention because I am in Europe on vacation and logging on. I am getting German ads on TOTV. One is a GroupOn ad for German restaurants. I know there are some other folks living abroad who log on too so assume they have noted this as well.
