That's great news. Will it be executive or championship?

It's great we are getting an indoor pool.

Barefoot 08-10-2016 11:54 AM

An indoor pool should make a lot of residents happy - it's often been requested! I think The Developer does react to written comments on the annual Survey, provided there are enough comments requesting the same improvement.

Indoor Pool coming

An indoor pool needs specialized HVAC equipment to maintain air temperature and humidity to specific parameters. If not the building enclosing the pool will be subject to rot and oxidation on metal including the electrical system. Very expensive to run and maintain. One pool in a development this size won't matter much. Wondering who's gonna pick up the tab.

I join in your concern. There already a sufficient number of pools. Priority membership paves the way for private use of certain pools. Likewise I would hope that residents do not get stuck with paying for this indoor pool. Let's hope it's construction and operating costs are paid by those you desire its use.

I intend to e-mail Jane Tutt and voice my compliments for providing this opportunity but also that I hope its with someone else's money and not mine. I already pay for amenities I don't use or want

We all wonder the same thing!
Maybe residents north of CR 466 will share the cost of an indoor pool, since it's being discussed for the Rio Grande area.
And since residents south of CR 466 are being saddled with repairs to land under Sumter bridge.
Just kidding .... Sort of.

This is the Conceptual Plan, an indoor pool is not part of it. The indoor pool will be located at a site not yet announced.

I do not have a lot of experience visiting the pools, but the Summerhill pool has the cloth shades mentioned in other post. The El Santiago pool has two gazebos were one can sit or lounge out of the sun.

I don't know who owns the land, but the vacant field that is next to "shady lane" would be a great place for an indoor pool. It is somewhat centrally located. More so than the other possible locations mentioned.

I agree. I'd love to have the use of an indoor pool and would willingly pay a special fee. However, now that I know where it will be, forget about it. I swim daily and wouldn't want to waste close to an hour in the car traveling to and fro. I know I'll get slammed for this but it's my opinion.

I am happy, though, for those swimmers up North who are getting it. I think it's great and probably worth the cost to them. Nonswimmers may feel differently.

Remember, this is essentially the same area where, when it was suggested a roof of sorts be put over Hacienda pool, a giant stink was made by the locals, if I recall correctly.

OTOH, maybe this is an experiment and, if successful, indoor pools will spring up throughout TV like golf courses to serve the 100,000+ population. YES!!

As I said in an earlier thread on spending money to maintain the softball facilities:

"There are really only two ways to run a community like ours. Either we "pay to play" or we accept that we ALL contribute towards maintaining ALL of the facilities, whether we use them or not. I do not play softball, but I am delighted that those facilities are being well-maintained so that they can be fully-enjoyed"

So I really don't understand why those who won't use an indoor pool are reluctant to help pay for it. We are a community here, so we must expect to pay communal expenses.

Except that we currently do not ALL contribute to maintain ALL the facilities. If you wish to swim at certain country club pools, you pay extra for that benefit. If you wish to play on country club golf courses, you pay for that benefit. If you wish to use gym equipment at certain Rec centers, you pay for that privilege. I certainly don't mind having an indoor pool, but let those who want it pay for it. Heck, I don't even use the pools I'm subsidizing now.

I filled in the missing word. :024:
Unless an indoor pool is built in each community, there will be questions and complaints about the fairness of the location.
And also about whether it should be a user-pay facility.
It's inevitable.

I'm going to start a petition requesting that the powers that be build a sauna with an adjacent massage studio. All to be free of course. And I have never had a massage either, but I think I might enjoy spending others money.

Anyone else have any suggestions for free facilities for the common good? [emoji41]

Isn't it better to address those issues earlier rather later?
