It is just a " head -shaker " to see how many people jump on something as soon as it becomes even a thought of a possibility .

To me this all comes under the heading " no good deed shall go unpunished " . And " don`t you dare even think of that " .

When you run the maintenance expense across the number of individual homes here in the Villages the increase to the monthly amenity fee if any should be hardly noticeable . Probably about the cost of a postage stamp each month .

Complaining and whining seems to be one of the more popular activities here in The Villages . Perhaps the Developer should include it in their marketing materials : " And also we are pleased to share that for those of you who have enjoyed a lifetime of carping and complaining that you will not have to give it up when you move to your new home " !

It is absolutely amazing that in 60+ posts re: an indoor pool is coming...... not one person seems to know that one of the BIG draws in The Villages advertising, when we were considering moving here, was the big indoor heated pool in the building where Lake Rehab facility is located on 441/27. It was a beautiful facility and hugely popular. Many water aerobic classes were held there and I am here to tell you, when it was announced that The Villages was closing that pool, hundreds of people threatened to leave the Villages. I don't know if any of them did or not. This was all about the same time that the big field, with the sign "Oh give me a home" and all the beautiful buffalo that we loved were taken from us. As were some of the best restaurants with dance floors closed and renovated into rec centers. In short..... what you are all witnessing in the present has been going on from the late "90s. You might as well make up your mind that a "change is gonn'a come" because it is. And I might add, for all the changes I have seen in over 16 years..... I would still not leave this place. I don't care how much money the Morse family makes and I am not privy to the business decisions made or the reasons why...... all I know is that they have provided my husband and I a beautiful, safe, friendly (or at least it used to be) community in which to reside and we are thankful for same.

This is a developer inspired project. clearly this business decision is made with the thought that construction costs, maintenance cost and other operations expenses will be transferred to others and if ownership remains with the developer the expectations of above average profits realized.

One poster said a draw to TV was an indoor pool. I do not believe very many residents moved here because of the idea of an indoor pool but rather golf.

Its interesting that the same people who push for everyone paying for more amenities complain about Comcast bundled package but then, a person's decision about keeping Comcast only affects them not others. So in my view all residents are entitled to cast a vote for any amenity that adds to their monthly fee

I find it interesting that people find it convenient to be spending other peoples money. so I wonder when will it stop. Socialism breeds entitlement. On the other hand if the developer has made a decision to build an indoor pool and offer private membership for a profit then by all means have at it, its the American way. it also a determinant as to how badly one really wants or needs such a facility.

I agree. I also realize that, as a swimmer who would love an indoor pool, I am a member of the minority. I don't expect others to fund an indoor pool just because I would like to be able to swim any time I'd like. I swim at sports pools in the early morning to avoid the sun and am grateful to have several pools to choose from. The absence of an indoor pool did not affect our decision to move here.

I'm also not a fan of how this project was "announced" without the benefit of details of how it would be funded and sustained.

The timing is interesting as well. Hmm, could this be a bone being thrown?

My wife is a big time lap swimmer, IMHO don't think any dedicated lap swimmers would have any problem paying a fee for swim time. With proper marketing it could be self funded, to @ least break even. The pool should be again dedicated for individuals-not games or classes. Otherwise uses times would be a problem.

The problem with that pool is it is only 20 yards, not the standard 25 yards. If you're a competitive swimmer this wouldn't work for you, although I think it would be great for the recreational swimmers.

I'm holding my breath and reserving and judgment until I see an actual pool. Hopefully it will be 25 yards long, if it does come to fruition.

The Conceptual plan includes a Pitch and Putt Course.

The Villages once had an indoor pool in Spanish Springs. It was shutdown and filled in. Lacked sufficient number of people who would pay the required fees. What goes around, comes around.

I believe this is an AAC funded project using the money from the $40 million settlement. It is supposed to help alleviate the additional units (about 300 single family plus 300 assisted living?) to be added in Districts 3 and 4.

That was when it was the Wellness Center. I worked the pool area on Wednesday mornings. They had a lot of classes and scheduled time for lap swimming, etc.
