The VHA, president Fred Biggs has written a letter dated 12/3/2016, to Ms, Tutt requesting a search for a method that the LLLC can be restored. I did get a copy, and I am assuming all members of the VHA also got copies.
I am going to wait until the mid December hearing, I am sure there will be no settlement prior to this date. Once the hearing is completed, we should have a better idea of what the next move would be.
In a prior post, I did ask the question if we (the 120,000 - 32) would have a standing in a possible suit against the plaintiffs for the loss of the LLLC. I am sure that we will not be able to get an answer until after the next hearing.

Great incisive post. He is a classic 'true believer' in the Eric Hoffer vein. I read and re-read the 2011 thread and encourage all who haven't to do so. The almost complete evasion of intelligent questions, the deep almost all controlling and overriding anger in the tone of his writing, and the always present condescension for those who are dare ask questions, this man would not seem to be able to enter into any settlement (compromise) talk.

So many of the social justice entitlement warriors like him love to throw strange and new words in our face. "Audism!" 'Look it up in Google' peasants! "Ableism" "Cisgenderism" (I personally like "Ageism" lol)

All the products of making our society a set of angry and hard atoms bouncing off each other and getting more and more apart and angry.

I believe from my own experience that people like this have no care at all about costs, running a business, the true good of so many people, or anything else that would make 'settlement' worthwhile.

It's probably a long shot, but I like the idea of exploring a suit against the plaintiffs. If property values are being negatively impacted because of their actions... would that be a reason to bring forth a suit?

Unfortunately, in today's society, "to be accommodated in reasonable ways" means that I get exactly what I want, right now, with no exceptions, without regard for anything or anyone else.

This is why it so IMPORTANT TO VOTE, to keep liberal judges off the bench who perpetuating this line of thinking.

I like the thought, but if the plaintiffs win, what would the grounds be? They were right all along. You would have to sue the school for not accommodating the plaintiffs in the first place. If the school accommodated the plaintiffs, no suit would have been filed and the LLC would still be open and your property values unchanged.

If the school wins, theoretically the LLC could reopen using the reasonable accommodations they originally proposed and your property values are unaffected.

I agree completely with your sentiment, but... These social justice warriors and their 'sub culture' of allied world changers have long known that Federal Court is the best way to get your way. It beats trying to resort to the old fashioned method of good old legislation as the Founding Fathers set down. These people are inherently anti-democratic and anti-republican.

Federal judges as you probably know, are appointed (not elected) for life. The appellate level judges all too often seem to be free to legislate judicially and are, in most Circuits, likely to be affirmed on appeal. Not surprisingly, these 32 people brought this suit in Federal court. This pending appeal in Atlanta bears watching.

A President's court appointment powers, at all levels, are so very long lasting.

Deaf Villager appeals for understanding after bombshell decision to close Lifelong Learning College

A Villager who was part of a lawsuit that is being blamed for the decision to dissolve the Villages Lifelong Learning College, is speaking out for the first time since the bombshell announcement.

Villagers were shocked when Villages Charter School Director Randy McDaniel made the announcement this week that the spring semester was canceled and the Lifelong Learning College would be immediately dissolved.

“I am deeply saddened that the Lifelong Learning College has chosen to retaliate against members of the deaf community in The Villages by closing its doors,” said Louis Schwarz, a longtime leader in the deaf community in The Villages.

The closing will impact a reported 18,000 Villages who take part in classes at the college which has been a Villages institution for more than a decade.

After attempts to work with the Lifelong Learning College and its refusal to provide an accommodation that would allow deaf individuals to equally participate in the courses offered, there was no choice but to file a lawsuit, Schwarz said.

“I participated in bringing this lawsuit because I wanted an equal opportunity to learn and grow at the Lifelong Learning College, just like all Villages residents who enjoy the classes offered by the college. When I tried to enroll, the Lifelong Learning College refused to provide an effective accommodation that would allow me to understand course content and to equally participate in the class. Randy McDaniel’s statement that the Lifelong Learning College has offered the deaf community reasonable accommodations, such as a hearing interpreter for any class we wished to attend for almost eight years, is simply untrue,” he said.

Schwarz said he is upset that the Lifelong Learning College is closing.

“But I am confused as to why the deaf residents are being held responsible for the college’s closure, as the Lifelong Learning College has been doing business as usual, effectively denying deaf persons from equally participating in its classes, without paying for any effective accommodations,” he said.

He added that he hopes The Villages community will remain open to the deaf residents’ perspective and desire for equal treatment, rather than to rely on “the unflattering and untruthful portrait painted by the Lifelong Learning College’s statements.”

Since 2007, Schwarz has been campaigning for captions on local TV, qualified interpreters for all events in which deaf residents want to take part in, and for captioned emergency/critical alerts/news.

I don't believe you will prevail in a suit over the effects caused by the litigation trying to force adherence to the ADA.

I do believe it would be more beneficial for the Village's attorneys to focus on a way to circumvent the ADA, and protect the other activities we all enjoy.

The VHA has proposed a plan to save the Villages Lifelong Learning College.

VHA President Fred Briggs, in a letter to District Manger Janet Tutt, wrote that the VHA was “very disappointed” to see the announced closing of the Lifelong Learning College.

The VHA is proposing a possible means to save the Lifelong Learning College through District government involvement.

“May we suggest that a request to the Sumter Landing Community Development District and/or the Village Center Community Development might salvage the program if they would consider participating in the appropriate function necessary to allow continuation,” Briggs wrote in the letter.

Wow, all I can say is given what we're talking about here ... this is quite an underwhelming response by the VHA.

Let's keep up the pressure to fix this problem of the Lifelong Learning College.

This is very sad, and will have very much of an impact regarding us purchasing within the Villages. We've had a personal delay in our final move, and this perk weighed heavily in our decision. Without it we can take advantage of many of the other benefits living outside the Villages with a home much less costly. I hope the "owners" can figure out a way to work around this situation affecting tens of thousands of people who were promised this benefit.

So do I. TOTV with all the views and comments on this sure has played a part in sending a very loud message to the developers as well as the plaintiffs in this big Federal case. It is closing in on 50,000 views if the present rate keeps up for a few more days.
