Look to all you clowns who don't get it...two weeks on Pot's and Pan 's @the Mess Hall or "Dinning Facility..or better still at the Grease Pit..or even better two weeks on the "" Weed Wacker " .. It was always down to the " Easy Way " or the " Hard Way "..for some obviously ya gotta shake your head .

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what does and doesn't qualify here, so I went to their website. They are not bad guys; their policy is very clear. There are certain holidays where they "honor all veterans" and a DD214 is accepted, but the rest of the year there are more narrow qualifications. This explains everything very clearly.

To qualify for the Everyday 10% Military Discount, you must:

Be currently serving in, or retired from, a qualifying branch of the Armed Services, or be the immediate family member of someone who is and have a valid military ID Card.

Or:

Be a veteran who receives VA benefits and have a valid Veteran Identification Card (VIC).

We honor all Veterans on three specific holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veterans Day. During these three holiday weekends, we extend the discount to all veterans who served honorably and who present a valid Form DD214 or other proof of service. I think you asked the wrong person.even though I use my retired ID card, DD214 should satisfy the requirement if it says "type of service honorable."

Lowes, Home Depot or any company has the right to grant PRIVLAGES to anyone they wish. They get to establish the rules that these PRIVLAGES will be granted.

Just like some companies say a senior discount starts at age (50). Others at age (55). Some business offer discounts to women only on Wednesdays. If you owned a business you might offer different discounts. People under a senior discount age limit do not complain, so you need to move on.

IF you have a complaint with the VA and their procedures and policies then contact your government rep and and ask for a change to the policy.

IF you do not agree with someones policies, Do not shop there! MOVE ON!

Clear not ambiguous and quite well thought out policy. Buy the way, ACE on 466 has just recently adopted a similar policy.

My how times have changed. How long ago were we all saying that serving in the military was just a partial payback for living in the USA... an honor to serve and the least we could do. So we went, did our best, and most of us came home to resume our lives.
A number of years passed and along with the rest of the country a lot of veterans have joined the gimme bunch. Suddenly the guy who spent 2 years moaning and bitching at Ft. Dix thinks he was Audie Murphy and George Patton rolled into one... and should be honored accordingly. Fifty years later they feel they deserve a 10% discount on a lawn mower!
I think Lowe's is quite generous. But... to keep things "fair" perhaps Lowe's should stop the discount altogether. (that last sentence is sarcasm in case anyone is confused).

States like Texas and Missouri, probably many others I know for sure those two do, gladly accepts DD-214 and when they see you were serving during Viet Nam they really tell you how much they appreciate you. Here, Lowes has simply decided there are too many of us so the created a policy to eliminate most of us. But that is business, so we have no choice but live with it.

Wish there was a smaller version of the dd214 to carry and present. Until I got my va card they would ask for proof. Rarely had it with me.

Really appreciate the discount from Lowe's and Home Depot. Thanks. FYI, unlike Lowe's, Home Depot will charge you a 10% restocking fee if you need to return something.
