Middleton has its own really nice amenities locally. And probably not a lot of grumpy old farts hanging out there ;-)

I think it's great people who work and live in the Villages have access to the the commercial business.

This will help keep those businesses thriving and hopefully encourage other businesses to located here.

I agree non-resident access to recreational facilities will become a bigger problem for The Villages, and Middleton once Eastport opens.

It really would've been nice if they prioritized getting the golf cart paths along Corbin trail/McNeil drive up and running seeing as it would benefit so many existing villagers south of Warm Springs in getting to the Sawgrass area more directly.

And going the other direction also. Would make some golf courses a lot closer coming from the sawgrass area.

Your statement begs a logical question. If residents of Middleton aren’t allowed to use Villagers amenities, why are they given access to the MMP’s which are amenities?

It is likely (known fact?) that residents of Middleton will be able to access the MMPs, just as it is likely Villagers will be able to access roads and any MMPs in Middleton. It is highly unlikely that residents of Middleton will have Villager ID cards allowing them access to the Rec Centers, Executive courses, or pools in the Villages just as it is highly unlikely that my ID card will give me access to any of the Middleton amenities.

Does anyone know for sure whether the MMPs are maintained out of SLAD and amenity fees or if they are maintained by PWAC/CDD and maintenance fees?

Where does your “unlikely” information come from?

Prior reporting and logic.

Middleton was created for families and is not a 55+ community. Our amenities were created for a 55+ community and some have restrictions on those under 30 or under 19 utilizing them. It is unlikely that residents of Middleton would be charged our amenity fee to allow use of our amenities when at least some of those amenities would be unavailable to them due to the age restrictions. It is also unlikely that our amenities would be made available to a non-55+ community since that would change the nature of our community and possibly threaten its qualifying for HOPA exclusions.

Aren't the MMP's just like any road/walking path? We aren't a gated community. Anyone of any age can drive/walk throughout the Villages. I don't see the paths as amenities. Anyone can visit the squares, stores, or drive throughout the neighborhoods.

Not like any roads, those are owned and maintained by the county.

Possibly like the walking paths, those may be maintained by amenity fees.

Anyone can visit the squares, stores, or drive on the public/county roads throughout the neighborhoods, but those are public areas which the MMPs may not be.

You are correct that anyone can drive throughout the Villages roads in a car and can walk on the paths. Driving on the MMP’s is a different story. The developer has gone through great efforts to prevent non Villagers and their guests from having golf cart access to the MMP’s. The infamous gate going to Lowels, Walmart, WaWa, etc…. from the historic section is a good example. And the MMP’s are not public ways, they are paid for by Villager’s amenity fees and when costs are involved (signage, painting lines, speed bumps, etc…) it involves the Project Wide Advisory Committee and/or the Amenity Authority Committee depending on the location.

frayedends 11-07-2023 05:01 PM

I just bought and am only part time, so I don't know what the gates are at Lowes and Walmart. But I don't expect there will be any hindrance to Middleton folks using the MMPs to get to other town squares. It seems silly to me to consider the golf cart path an amenity that only seniors can use (outside of Middleton).

Good grief. Get over it. Who cares if the Middleton residents use the MMP’s.

When we came for our first visit in 2007, Residents of family areas had access to roads, mmp’s, and those who worked as VLS, have a gate card.

Rumor prior to Middleton being sold, was the possibility of amenity fees for residents of Middleton, but for some reason, never materialized. Although one has to wonder the many VLS reps that own homes as investment properties, would have access to resident passes because they are paying amenities fees.

However the HS swim team has used TV pool for swim practice since the team was formed. Has it caused issues and grumbling of residents in that area, at times, YES, but once the Olympic pool is ready, do you think the senior swim competition could be at the new pool? Maybe

A poster has stated that they felt out of place while walking in Middletons pools, and park. But I would attribute that to Moms being very protective of their children while an out of place male was walking around the area.

Get ready to venture out, Middleton! We're putting the finishing touches on the Multi-Modal Trails that lead you to a variety of experiences. Choose your favorite mode of transportation and follow the trails to enjoy a day at Sawgrass Grove, Grove, an evening of entertainment in Brownwood, or a visit with friends and family. You'll soon be able to make your way along the trails, over the Southern Oaks Bridge and beyond.

Huh- There are people living there? We went to look at the school a few nights ago and noticed all the streets near the school are barricaded.
