That truly amazes me, but in full disclosure,
I was bitten once by a no-see-‘em.
I live south of 466 just north of Lake Miona.

ME TOO. I agree. We live off of 466.

I fully expected every variety of bugs to be a much bigger problem than they are...Miniscule problem here.

The Villages does their job and residents are not afraid to use insecticides also.

Sumter County is responsible for mosquito spraying. Report your experience to them.

The Villages is not responsible for mosquito spraying. It's the county's responsibility.

You are very fortunate. The mosquitos in our neighborhood are always bad. I got 5 bites from my car to my mailbox and back last evening. Forget being in our yard at dusk and after. The mosquitos are the county's responsibility. Mosquito Control | Sumter County, FL - Official Website

I too was surprised by the lack of bugs as we always heard Florida was terrible because of the bugs. The only ones we have had are of course the love bugs, and 3 times we had those miniature ghost ants come in to find something but were easily eradicated with liquid bait. We live on a pond and have no mosquito problems and the anoles eat whatever is around our landscape. I do use home defense as a precaution and I guess it works as nothing ever comes in the house or lanai not even those little millipedes that I have heard people complain about. A little off topic but no dandelions in the St. Augustine lawns that I have ever seen and that is just great.

I saw the mosquito sprayer just last night around 7:30 in our neighborhood near Lake Sumter. They are loud trucks with flashing lights.
