For that price does it come with a few horses?

Designer building lots on executive courses are pushing $300,000 and in some cases more, those last couple horse farm 5 acre lots are a bargain.

Hey Marv, I've got just the one for you! Hand in the glove, a perfect fit. They are a few here and there. Mine is a legal two-family on the Historic Side. It will be for sale after the first of the year.

Hi Nucky - OK! Please keep in touch and send me a private message when you ready to sell. Thanks. MarvinH

No, they are all single-family homes. The Villages was not built to accommodate adult family members other than spouses living in the same dwelling. That was intentional. There are no "in-law apartments" in the Villages. If an adult family member wants his own entrance, he should buy his own house.

Hear, hear!!!

Hello. Does anyone know if there are multi family homes in The Villages (new or resale)? By multi family I mean a home built with a separate area that is a suite for a child (age 30-50) of the homeowner. Also I'm thinking if your child lives with you, they should have a separate entrance and a kitchenette (just a microwave, refrigerator and sink).
Thank you - MarvinH

Looking at a list of all the homeowners in my village suggests that more than 10% of villagers have an adult child living with them. In many cases, the parent or parents are in their 80s or older, and the “child” is 60 or so. I like to think that this is an unmarried child who has moved in to care for his or her parent or parents in their declining years. Or perhaps the unmarried child has always lived at home for various reasons. I like the idea of the self-sacrificing child caring for mom or dad. Children like that don’t need their own entry or cooking area because they are dedicated to serving their parents.

The Villages is nearly crime free, but what crime there is often seems to involve grown children living with parents, and it seems to usually involve alcohol abuse, drug abuse, DUI, or shoplifting. (That’s also what it involves usually when it’s not children causing the trouble.) I understand the desire to rescue a troubled child, but I can’t claim to like having that sort of person living in The Villages. It’s so difficult for parents! Such a heartbreak! I tend to think that if parents want a separate entrance and cooking facilities for a child, they might do better to buy a larger house in, say, Ocala that could easily be adapted for such needs, and for a lot less money. There are lots of very nice houses for sale there. They also have more parking available. They just aren’t in The Villages, so they don’t have our amenities. But that’s just me. Parents need to do the best they can, and they want to help their children. That’s just natural.

Raise your kids to be independent thinkers. I love mine a ton, but I don't want them living with me. They were raised to become productive members of society, not a burden on society. That's the job of a good and responsible parent and the greatest love you can show your child.

Not that I know of but just outside the Villages just a short distance up 441 just north of 42 you have Del Webb Spruce Creek CC. Ive seen them in there. It depends if you want to actually live in the heart of the villages

No unless you can afford a premier home where they have seperate quarters usually used for live in staff

Some of us have developmentally disabled adult children ... that need to live with their parents

Multi family homes

I am hoping that you are looking for such a home because your child medically disabled and can't live on their own or you require extra help. This is an retirement commuity and adults under the age of 50 is very discouraged living here with parents.

There are homes North of 466 that have In-law residents. It is a unit attached to the home with it's own entrance. There are very few and come up for sell seldom.

I know of five separate families with disabled adult children living at home.

If the construction changes are made by the owner without changing the exterior nobody would know. I do know of one home in which this has been done.

Exactly. This is suppose to be 55 and older. Not for kids or extended family. Only 1 or 2 people should be living in a home..but this isn’t so....from what I hear!

the rest of the people have to be over 18or19 , this has been talked about over and over

I'm with you. Your post brought to mind how challenging maintaining 'house rules' became when the kids came home from college for the summer after being on their own all year at school.

We love 'em all...and love to see them. But there's an old saying "after 3 days fish begins to smell"

Perhaps a disabled adult child.
