Agree Mostly

I must say after reading these threads for several years... I think here we are mostly on the same page, all of us! In the past several months these problems (especially ones mentioned by RAGS123) have all come to a head... but have been brewing for several decades either in front of us or secretly behind the scenes... most of which we the residents of The Villages and others like us can do anything about... When our top leader refuses almost every expert General and other Experts in their field e.g.. Medical, and others we cannot expect these problems to get any better for sure..

I feel we have little hope but to sit on the side lines and watch the smoke!

I have fault my way to this point... I am worn out and feel I have helped a few Americans along the way and others as well... I honestly feel that most of the good people of The Villages has most done the same... Too many bad people in the world for me to tackle or even debate...

The best to those that have to take our place from here!

What I can't quite wrap my head around is how a news event that happens in The Villages or Cape Town or Beijing has the potential to be translated, transmitted and discussed within seconds by over a billion people.

Looks like many of us agree with you gomoho!!

I dance all the time with Noel. She was the one killed today by her husband. It's a very sad day for the line dancers who are just finding out about this awful tragedy tonight. She was a sweet person. I'm sure when she got up this morning she didn't expect this to be her last day. All the more reason we all must be eternity minded because we never know when our last day will be.

Two people are dead and mostly spew so far. Amazing. Thank you moderator. There could be a back story to this tragedy.

My condolences on the loss of your friend Dawn.

My condolences. A very sad thing for those who knew these neighbors. I don't understand how some of those other comments apply to a sad event in our community. We can never understand the pain our friends are feeling. We can only try to be there for them when they need us.

What ever the reason or cause 2 people have died tragically. Horrible news for the family friends & neighbors.

Your post has absolutely nothing to do with a murder-suicide in The Villages.

We know nothing about the reason for the double killing. Stop putting political spin on a tragedy.

In a town of around 100,000, we still have an extremely low crime rate and especially when you consider violent crimes on a person.

Feel compassion for the victim's family and leave your political views in the garbagecan.

I have to agree with you. How it becomes a political conversation is perplexing, and has nothing to do with this personal tragedy. We human beings are complicated, imperfect creatures, who can fall apart. My thoughts and prayers go out to their families and friends who are having to cope with such a loss.

Really? You think praying is going to solve the problem? Billions of people pray all the time. We still have issues. People need to get off their knees and start doing something. God didn't make this mess and God ain't gonna fix it. Praying may make you feel better, but it isn't going to change anything.

Amen to that!!!

There is a definite backstory to this tragedy... We have a real problem, not just in the NFL, with violence against women. When this was reported on the news last night I just waited to hear a conformation of what I already new.

HER HUSBAND KILLED HER AND THEN KILLED HIMSELF

One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.

85% of domestic violence victims are women.

Historically, females have been most often victimized by someone they knew.

Females who are 20-24 years of age are at the greatest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence.5 Most cases of domestic violence are never reported to the police.

Witnessing violence between one’s parents or caretakers is the strongest risk factor of transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next.

Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults.8 30% to 60% of perpetrators of intimate partner violence also abuse children in the household.

Almost one-third of female homicide victims that are reported in police records are killed by an intimate partner.

In 70-80% of intimate partner homicides, no matter which partner was killed, the man physically abused the woman before the murder.

Less than one-fifth of victims reporting an injury from intimate partner violence sought medical treatment following the injury.

Intimate partner violence results in more than 18.5 million mental health care visits each year.

I am confused by the dichotomy of your last two posts. You oppose prayer and oppose violence against women.

I oppose violence against women too, against anyone for that matter but I don't oppose prayer.

graciegirl 10-11-2014 07:28 AM

I hope this isn't "spew" Chi-town. People try to handle a shocking tragedy in many ways.

I feel sad for the family of this couple and the friends here in The Villages and in their home state.

I just read where a couple in Indiana died by the same means just hours after their wedding.

Life makes us change and grow and sometimes our partner is threatened by change or maybe he was unstable or had some mental issue.

Depression is very common among senior citizens. If any of you are feeling down, seek help please. The G family dispenses strong hugs and coffee if any of you need a listening ear.
