I see a flaw in your statement. I suspect that many of the people moving into the nearby apartments work here in TV. By being close to their jobs, they will drive fewer miles each day.

I also see them visiting our local restaurants on a year-round basis, which should give them and other businesses a more consistent source of income. This will enable businesses that can’t handle the annual snowbird cycle to survive.

Finally someone talking sense

A nice place for the people who do all the jobs here that we take for granted , for senior citizens and the disabled , for vets and single mothers with children who are working in fast food places, a decent clean safe place to live , what could be wrong with that ??!

Amen

in The Villages. Income limited housing is needed but traffic studies should be the governing factor.

Building 30,000 new homes doesn’t bring on traffic problems???

The Courtyard Villas on CR466 I suspect will take a $$$ on the minus side.

Lady Lake politicians clearly are clueless, I can only imagine what the backups will be like especially westbound at the traffic light making a left turn onto Morse Blvd going to Sumter Landing.

Likewise Eastbound @the traffic light going left onto Rolling Acres Road getting to CR441/27. Good Luck.

So The Villages over building....just approved an other 30,000 homes that’s not the problem but the apartment that will home 800 people is.......really......really
Trust me it’s not apartment is not going to be your traffic problem it’s The Villages wanting 2 hundred thousand people living here by the end of the day

Like a DMZ, nobody allowed to enter or live there so the sensibilities of the entitled elite living in the TV bubble aren't offended. Can't have "undesirables" living too close to our sanctuary. It's OK that they cut our grass, clean our homes, serve our food at the restaurants and haul our garbage, just don't live too close to us.

Thank you....great statement

Where do you think the people worried about this should move to?

my thoughts,

looks like a lot of folks that work in TV for low wages will have an opportunity to shorten their commute and enjoy moving into new digs

people that earn less than six figures matter too....

let's not forget, they are the ones that tend bar, work in professional offices, work retail, mow your lawn and wait on your table in The Villages

airdale2 09-17-2020 06:44 AM

apartments

Its always said that the apartments are needed for the workers in the Villages, Perhaps so but why are they not being built where the workers of the Villages need them, south of 44?

airdale2 09-17-2020 06:47 AM

clueless ??

Name names

News flash !! The workers NORTH of 44 also need a decent place to live. The immediate need is exactly where they are going. As more business opens south, they may need some as well.

Just because people have low incomes doesnt make them border line criminals. They are harder workers trying to make a living with minimum wage jobs. Theyre no different than people with money who own a house or 2 in the villages except they are working their butts off to survive

They are being built where there is demand. The demand is still low south of 44, but it will grow and then the apartments will come. Not everyone who works in the villages does construction. I suspect construction workers are the minority.

Most Villagers are Restricted Income residents.

A great many people in The Villages have incomes restricted to Social Security, and that may be $1,000 to $2,500 a month. It depends on how much they earned while working. That means plenty are living below the poverty line. They might qualify for these apartments. The reason they can afford to live here is that they had enough equity to pay cash for their home in The Villages, and they may have moved here years ago. They can’t really afford to rent one of the new apartments in The Villages on $1,000 a month.
